The heater install is nicely done. I would like a nice heater so I could drive the CJ more. First I need to find a top.

Yeah, it goes with the column shift for 3-across seating.

One of the reasons I like soft tops over hard tops is that the soft top is warmer than an un-insulated hard top.

Exactly. I have no need for seating three, and with 3 shifters, there is no room for feet in the center. We're going to put the bench in the kid's '59 for now, as it desperately needs seats.

My hard tops are insulated. Perhaps why I can get by with only running a single heater after I get the interior warmed up. I remember driving to the mountains in a friends '67 with a soft top and we spent much of the time stuffing tissue into places the wind was coming in. On a trip to WY the wind managed to suck out a rear window and a door window cracked so my passenger had to stick his down coat covered arm into it. We stopped and bought a bunch of tape and got things sealed up a bit Once I get the hard top on the 3B, I get no drafts and hey, I can lock it and it doesn't flap around in the wind and I can do things like scrape a window. The hard top for the 3B was less than half of the cost of a new soft top an it has been used for over twenty five years.
I'm not wanting to start a confrontation and I am perfectly willing to allow you you to run any top you wish.

I also think hard tops are ugly, and heavy.;) I only drive my Jeep about 25 miles a day. Perhaps if it were more I'd want a hard top.

They certainly can be heavy but my neighbor and wife manage to get his on. (Fiberglass). I used to be able to do mine by myself and over the last few years, it was easier to be a three man job. The friends were happy as long as I had beer and peanuts for them. The top has never been off of the Commando as long as I've owned it and by looking at the bolts I'm not sure if it has ever been off. Neighbors kid has asked me if I want the soft top from his Commando a few times.
I did use the winch and a tree once to remove the thing.

In the summer I like to pull the windows out, or put a bikini top on, or run topless.
That said, I do like the hard top on the TJ in the winter, although I hardly ever drive it. It gets a soft top in the summer as well.

Hmm I heard "put on a bikini and drive topless"... Was thinking to each their own. Then I re-read it.

Yeah, I tried that. The fine wasn't as bad as the humiliation.

Perhaps it's not your body, it's the image of a guy driving around wearing a biikini. I have lost 100 lbs and I suppose the other thing is that I don't even have access to a biikiini. Of course if you paid me enough... I did wear a dress for a school play and the theater director said that I looked better in it than she did.
No, no pictures so you will have to trust me on this one.

Smittybilt seats in, I'll get more pics tomorrow. So far, I'm very impressed, especially for 99 bucks apiece. I ordered a 40MM ammo box to make a center console.

We put the bench in my son's Jeep. It was in dire need of seats. His Jeep is coming along; he's going to take it to his high school auto shop class in April and paint it blue.

A little ammo can center console project. Almost done, still need to carpet the inside and put some dividers in it. Maybe a padded armrest, and some cup holders somewhere.
