Good to know... very good to know. I will be going after that for the rear.

After drilling rivets, I found the problem. The handle is original. The piece that mounts it to the door is not. Someone just threw it on there to hold the handle and applied a little JB Weld to get it all to stick. The dremel and I have modified it to the point that it is actually functional. So, I might take it back by the locksmith to see if he has a retaining clip for the cylinder.

Then again, just getting ones that are all keyed the same sounds pretty decent.

Kman or to whom it may concern,
My 61 CJ5 has what apprears to be the same hard top as yours. This Willys is being built from the ground up but now I want to get started on the body work. I was wondering if you know where I can find replacement rubber seals for all the hard top windows, and what you suggest I use for a seal between the top and the body and between the doors and body/top. I'm checking out your link for the door handles, thank you. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm stationed over here in Germany with the Navy so I'm kind of limited to what resource are over here. This is also my first time posting on here, so please forgive me for any possible forum mistakes.
    Thank you,
    Daniel

that is so great, what a threat......

i look for keys for my 79 hardtop, it has some "custom" handels and is not 100% original.

it would be great to get the lock system new, where i have to look for a #nr.?
or all ht are the same?

some pic. of my ht, i also wonder because i have a set of doors from an early or intermediat cj5 and they fit
    my 79 cj6.

The interior door handles/locks are called cab locks. I found a vendor on the Internet that sold these:
    http://www.ihinc.com/catalog.cfm?dest=itempg&itemid=1084&secid=20&linkon=section&linkid=20

The exterior door and back hatch handles are called blind-mounting locking L handles. Something similar to these will work, but check your dimensions of mounting screw locations and shaft length and size before ordering:
    http://store.stepvanparts.com/DOOR-LOCKING-HANDLE-BLIND-MOUNT-25164.HTM

I ordered the interior locks and exterior locking handles from one location, but I can't remember the online store. I do remember it being an RV/camper store. I reused my back hatch interior rod latch.

I drilled out the rivets upon disassembly and installed my new stuff using size 12 or 14 sheet metal screws.

Kman, Just like to throw this out there, I really like the way your jeep looks with the red body and the tan top, its the inspiration for my finished product after i paint mine but i'm going with 2.5 lift on my 5

My top has the chain regulators and both were froze up when I brought the top. I have no clue how old it is. I had to repair both regulators and one door closure. Doors are repaired, primed and ready for paint. Now all I have to do is get the top sanded primed and painted, then I will be ready to put it on. If all goes as planned it should be ready about April, just in time to take it off for the summer.

Hey! I just put new window channels in my Meyers doors and thought I would pass along this part number - 8A160 - at C. R. Laurence. Of course I didn't order that one, I ordered new before taking out the old and realizing it was the flexible style. I ordered 10K96 which is rigid so you have to cut it to install it and there's a little extra left over. I think the other one at 60 inches is exactly long enough.

I am not finished yet, but the glass is in and I can already tell my riding experience is going to be way better. It used to sound like an empty dumpster being dragged down a dirt road.
