Took a chance on $20 Amazon tube and stick kit. Couldnt bring myself to go the premier AMC vendor price for a piece of tubing. Most reports of non-Bulltear tubes are the sealing bands are too fat, designed for later engines.

I measured the old bent up tube with calipers. 0.339"

New tube was really fat at the sealing bands. Dont recall measurement. Sorry.

Used a flare tool clamp to swage it down, eventually adding a chunk of business card to bring it down more. Stopped here, then buffed smooth with 400 grit. Dont try to reduce by just sanding or tube may collapse because its so thin at the bands. Left it around 0.353", allowing for some compression. No idea how this will work.

Maybe it will work. I got one from quadratec for 12 bucks or maybe 20 I can't remember. To fat. Need to try what you did to see if it fits better.

Was thinking of making a swaging tool then clamping in vice. Then I read of someone else using the flare tool. My piece of intellectual property is cutting up a Mike's Carburetor Parts business card to increase the squeeze. I think its important that it be Mike's card. If you need carb parts he'll have it for good price and fast shipping.

Lower band has a gentle edge, upper band has a much sharper edge, and that seems to be where people have trouble. Havent looked closely at the hole in the block but thinking to massage the top of the hole for a smooth entry.

Good idea on the flare tool....

as for myself i did grind it down to be able to put it in the hole. Next time i would do the flare tool way.

Also i did put osme loctite 609 to make sure it will be a tight fit without any chance to have a leak.
