What exactly is this crossmember called. All the replacements for rear crossmembers I have found are for the rear bumper. Any suggestions for a good replacement?

    Thanks

Technically the rear "bumper" you refer to is the rear cross member. It was never intended to serve as a bumper.

AFAIK there is no source for the cross member above the axle, other than another Jeep frame. If it were mine, I'd go with one of two options. First, if I could find a better frame, I'd use that. There are a lot more frames available than bodies, so you should be able to find a replacement quite readily. Your frame looks badly pitted, and it may be prudent to just replace it. Considering how far your disassembly has gone, it would probably save time and labor to go with a new frame.

If not, then I'd just reinforce the part you have not, and call it good. The top rail looks ok - I would weld a strap along the bottom rail. That would be plenty strong.

Frame is not in the best shape but it is fine structurally. Picture makes it look worse than it is. I have a lot of extra steel so I have already cut out a hand full of frame braces. Problem is I don't have power for my welder which is slowing progress down a lot......
