how odd would it look?

    How odd would the flatty look with a narrowed waggy front axle at 56.5" and a stock 73 rear dana 44 at 50.5"? I know it would be 3" on each side.

    It's actually not too bad. My boss has a 3b like that. Wide track 30 width 44 in front and narrow track cj 44 in rear. It helped with his turning radius so the tires weren't hitting the frame and springs. It is noticeable. You could always add wheel spacers to the rear to widen that out if you didn't like the difference Spidertrax and other companies make them that are good quality.

    You could add some wheel spacers to the rear to get it a little closer.

    Maybe add a couple of 2" wheel spacers to the back like the pair I have in the garage......

    How about skinny tires up front and wide ones in the back, like a sand racer............or you always go with the wheel spacer option.

    I think it would still look odd with wheel spacers. It just looks weird when the tires are sticking out but don't fill up the wheel well. It's un-proportional.

    PUT ONE TIRE IN THE CENTER OF THE REAR END.
    then that turning radius problem would be licked fer sho!

    ya'll are funny. Unfortunately wheel spacers in Pa of the sizes needed are illegal. I was hoping maybe I could run wheels with different sized back spacing.

    You could definitely do that, were you so inclined. That would be some pretty severe backspacing though.

    most stock every stock vehical has a wider track width i the front compared to the rear hell the stock waggy axles are 3" different from the factory but if your ran 2" spacers it won't look to bad and if they are two wide for pa laws just remove them for inspections and put them back on when it is done

    Having any part of the tire sticking out of the fender is also illegal in PA, so it might be a bit of a challenge to stay legal right from the get-go.

    I'm running 15x7 rims and 31x10.50 tires, and the edge of the tread sticks out of the fenders by about ][ this much. (See my avatar) Technically, the bulge of the sidewall has to be within the fender too, but most inspection places aren't that picky. Having each front tire 3 inches out in the breeze is going to attract attention from the gendarme fo sho.

    True. Im thinking of a very skinny tire with decent backspacing and some removable fender flares should be legal enough to pass inspection. I like the look of skinny tires on flat fenders. Using stock yj's spring under shouldn't look that bad with skinny stockish tires.

    I have to ask, why are you changing axles? The rear D44 and front D25/27 work pretty well unless you are running some serious HP or you are hard on the skinny pedal. A good upgrade to the stock front axle is a D30 from a later CJ and it won't stick the tires out too far.

    To add to what Steve said, if you're building one you can just as easily build one to narrow track 30 width. Ive even narrowed a 30 to match 25/27 width (don't ask, it's what the customer wanted).
