co worker needs backing plates for the back of his '92 Toyota 4x4 pickup. Says no one sells them new except the dealer. Anyone got a set for him?

I just saw three sets in the U-pull yard yesterday. It seems the 3rd member/diff of any Toyota truck axle is a hot commodity, and every one is pulled (they just had a 40% off 4th of July sale). The drums, backing plates, and axle shafts are pulled 6" out of the housings so they could remove the 3rd member/diff, so the hard work is already done. All they need is the parking brake cable disconnected.

Well I have some but they're from a 4runner and the axles are still attached to them. I don't recall why but they wouldn't fit the 91 Toyota pickup we have.

The axles didn't fit or the backing plates didn't fit?

Any idea what year the forerunner was so I can try to compare part numbers or somehow determine if the backing plates are the same for his '92 pickup?

To be honest I don't remember. It was ~4-7 years ago when we bought them from the junkyard. I think it was a 95 4 runner 3.0 4x4

I'll be going to the junkyard sometime and I know there are four other 4runners out there with complete rear axles so if you find something let me know.

separating the axle fom the backing plate is a press job on these, can't utilize a typical puller.
