Oh bummer! Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a good opportunity to upgrade to Sal's roller cam. If/when you do, document it here!

I’ve been looking hard for a cam that’s close to the one that’s in it because it was built around this cam, there are very few cams even available right now.

Glad you figured it out, but sucks that you have to tear it apart again.

I picked up a motor today from a member here, (Timsresort). Thanks Tim.
Complete running motor, should have old one out and this in and running by next weekend.

I couldn’t help myself after I got it home, and started cleaning it up a little. Wanted to see if there were any oil leaks that I needed to address, didn’t find any just caked on dirt.
This is after spending about an hour getting the dirt off, forgot the before pic.

I was supposed to finish this up on Friday but decided to take my wife out to dinner and had a few adult beverages.
Today I got the front end buttoned up when I noticed the throw out bearing sitting on top of my old motor. I had measured the distance for the throw out bearing and had removed it to set correct hight, and had left it sitting on top of old motor and got interrupted. When I came back I threw the motor and transmission together and slid it into JEEP. So today I got most of this thing buttoned up and I went to connect spring on the pivot arm and realized that I had forgot to install the throw out bearing! ::censored: I pulled everything off and pulled the motor back out and installed the throw out bearing and started putting it back together.
So no pics today because it doesn’t look any different than it did Thursday.
Oh well….1 step forward and 5 back.

Did you sit and stare at it for like 5 minutes, trying to will a different version of reality to emerge? 'Cause I have never done that sort of thing.

I did sit down and stare at it, with a beer in hand, about the 2nd beer I was still trying to figure out how I was going to get the throw out bearing where it belonged without having to remove the engine or transmission again. Finally came to reality that without pulling them it wasn’t gonna happen even if I kept drinking.
