I am having a problem with my 225. Engine idles fine. when I give it any throttle it sounds like it is missing. I have dual exhaust and the miss is comming from the left side.I am firing good on 2,4,and 6. I can remove plug wires wile running on 1,3,and 5 all at the same time and there is no difference, other than the engine smooths out and sounds good. Any advice would be great.

either the firing order is crossed with the wires, or you have the wrong distributor, cap, and/or rotor.

I'm pretty sure i have the right dist cap and rotor according to merls garage. http://home.off-road.com/~merls_garage/oddfire.html I have new plugs, wires cap dist, points and condensor. What do you meen by the firing order is crossed?

plug wires not installed in the correct firing order of the engine.
99% of the time when the whole bank or side of the engine is dead like you describe, it points to a distributor problem: even fire components on odd fire engine, or some other type of problem.

I have spark on 1,3,and 5 but it appears to be firing at the wrong time. 2,4, and 6 seem to be hitting just right.

It would help to know which of the three distributors you have.

I tried moving plug wires both clockwise and counter clockwise. The engine won't run either way.

Just recently bought the jeep. It was running, but rough. I rebuilt the carb and replaced the plugs wires cap rotor points and condensor. Just trying to to give it a good tune up.

    Check your firing order 1-6-5-4-3-2
Drivers side front to back 1-3-5
Pass side front to back 2-4-6

okay, so it's possible the problem existed before you got the Jeep.
can you tell if the dist had been recently replaced ?
if it's getting fuel to that side, then the dist is really the only thing left.
if you had another you could try.........

there are 2 different types of Delco dist caps
one has the window between two towers; the other is positioned on one of the towers,
    (simply speaking).
    the rotors are the same.
can you see your number stamped into the housing base of the distibutor ?
ie 1108375 or something similar ?

The number on the dist. base is 1112110 1F 23. The window on the cap is on the number 1 contact.

which isn't a number listed for the V6 oddfire....
I think someone at some time has installed a reman distributor.
I believe that is your problem.
the lobes on the shaft may not be in the proper position for points opening for your application (odd fire). I suppose you can check on line sources here and elsewhere that might confirm that.
I've seen this problem many times over the years, and that's my best e-guess from what's happening and what you are describing.

I wish I had one I could rob for a while just to check. Is there any way I can verify the lobes on the shaft and confirm this dist is for an odd fire?
