Interesting thread - surprised no one commented on your Turkey Vulture. You can see them riding the thermals everywhere in southern California, and I presume across the nation.

    Turkey vulture - Wikipedia
Genus Cathartes, from the Greek word for purifier. See catharsis, which has a - perhaps more apt - secondary meaning.

They are everywhere around here......I've always assumed they are all over the U.S. I was surprised that DNE said "this bird". Forgot to ask if she knew what it is.

Hey, didn't expect me so soon did ya;) My kids are taking a nap~ what's wrong with the kids these days~ the days go by so quickly as it is! Just my 8 y/o grandson has settled in on the TV games he likes.

So, I took a little time to move the case of the Dana44 off with my little mule, then used the little mule to move the Dana30 onto the work horses also supported by my crane. Monday I suppose I'll strip what I want off of the 30 (disc brakes, axles, steel braided brake lines, but I'll be making new hard lines. I'll spend some time cleaning up the rotors/calipers, etc, to repaint and make look newer. What I leave of the dana 30, is it worth anything as to put on Facebook? There won't be much left of it when I'm done.

Hi, looks like I'm back at it, kids are back in their part of the world! ;)

Today was kind of fun stuff, you know, making things look nicer, I had some leftover Ford Blue from painting the tractor, very tough paint, and I think the blue will look very nice.

I found out that the Dana 30 axles don't interchange with the Dana 44, so I ordered some u-joints for my Dana 44 and that should take care of that.

Despite the heat, viruses, hurricanes, floods, etc, I got out there to "install" the used frame horns. I was a little, or a lot worried, but seems to be working out ok.

The parts came from Driven 4x4, they have a bunch of Bronco parts, so I asked Randy(owner) for the parts, so they cut them off and sent them to me for 350 bucks. but I guess beating buying a new frame. The gray parts are for the rear (lucky me) and a bunch of 1" spacers getting scattered around.

This is horrible, but for whomsoever probably seemed like a great idea at the time to destroy a perfectly good frame! The passenger mount wasn't even connected, the part in the body was totally gone.

I strengthing plate is available to be welded in for the power steering gear, I may go ahead and do that, just another 40 bucks.

I've got it fitted up, but not welded in completely, but it's getting there! When I get the rear horny toad things on, then I'll recheck everything and weld it up, then mount it on my rotisserie, then take it and a bunch of other parts to my sandblasting guy. Should start moving along pretty quickly at that point.

Now that I have the "new" ends on the frame, I was able to adapt my rotisserie to it and move it from its present location and clean the area. I'm tickled with the rotisserie and just how beneficial it is. Took a little to get it centered so it would spend freely, but of course I got it, hopefully the sandblaster guys appreciate the rotisserie.
Oh, the connecting bar is exactly 14' and took every bit of it!

Now able to park it sideways so I can get my truck inside, says there's supposed to be rain, but I'll believe that when I see it;)
I have a little more fabricating to do, easy stuff;)

I still have some sit down fun to do with my Dana 44, I have all the parts necessary to get it completed and stored somewhere. My 14' trailer is where the frame used to be, note the floor is wet and much cleaner!

I think I may take tomorrow off and stay clear of the heat, kind of getting to me! besides, Gary insisted I have a 12k generator for the shop and I need to wire that up and misc. stuff! ;)
cheers everyone and thanks for all the Thumbs ups!!!

Awesome project! Can't wait to see it done. My GF wants an early Bronco pretty badly, but the price of admission is just too much for us.

Ok, looking at making this engine run stand, not necessarily this one, I just googled it and it came up. I would like it to look "official", they're just too expensive to buy, so definitly going to make one. If you guys have an example of one to share, that would be nice;) :D

Hey you handsome devils,:sneak:! ;)

Went to the steel store, and this rectangular steel 24'/11gauge is 244 bucks! The guy says steel is at a premium even though it's coming from Mexico. I couldn't pay that, so I went home.

I had 10' leftover of 3"x 1.5" channel, so I cut it up and I think it's going to work, oh, let me rephrase, this IS going to work! Then I gathered the remaining scrap steel I have and I'll pull this off, might not be as pretty, but a little paint will make it look good! right?? I Have some 5" casters on the way too. Then I got too HOT and decided to call it a day~ so, it's a day! lol
    [IMG]

I was hoping to achieve this:( not the electric fan, nor instrument thing, nor whatever that other stand is attached to it. In fact, mine probably won't look anything like this! lol
    [IMG]

The simplest things really make me happy, I got this new cover for my Dana 44, I'm waiting on a special gasket, so I have to wait on installation. Just need someone to tell me what gear lube goes in this thing since it has that strange spider gear dooheekee.

    I need a shower~ I'll be back!

Kind of starting to look like an "engine run stand?" 5" casters should be here soon, still need to mount the radiator support with built in "dashboard". I think it will look good in Ford Blue with black accents, oh and a battery box. Should be fun!

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, oh, started singing again
However, yesterday, loaded the frame, and a whole bunch of other stuff to be blasted, so, maybe by the weekend or next week I'll have that stuff back.

In the meantime, while singing the Chevy Chevette song and dancing like those girls on the ad, I'm getting closer to finishing the engine run stand or the ERS, which stands for ENGINE RUN STAND  But darn it all, I sent the bell housing to get blasted too so I can't re-install the engine back on , still to go is the radiator stand and the instrument panel, then find some cheap gauges.

    Other:
Oh, yesterday I put brake pads on our '17 Mazda CX5, where Gary takes it to have the tires rotated and oil changed, they said the rear brakes were unsafe and need replacing. A quote of 268 for the rear and the front similar. So, I had to ***-u-me that they were probably right as the car has 64k original miles on it. I ordered factory pads on Ebay.
I put the CX up on my maxjax, pulled the wheels, inspected the pads, and they are no where near ready to be replaced!!!! I did replace them anyway as I was there already and it's pretty easy to replace. But in order to do the rear brakes, the parking brake(electric) has to be put in "service mode", like push the ig switch twice, pull up the parking brake switch, push the gas pedal to the floor, then push the ig switch again, then a little "P" comes up on the dash to signifiy in the service mode. I hate stuff like this! However, it's done.

Now to watch my Chevy chevette song!!! :bananatool::bananatool:

Almost there! Just need a battery tray, also I'm thinking a stand alone panel for the gauges and tach.
The casters each have a lock and also the entire thing rolls very easily~ hopefully with the engine on it will roll easily too;)

I made the base to where the radiator can be moved in or out as needed and adjustable radiator height adjustments.

I think tomorrow I'll work on cleaning up the engine, repaint it, re-install the intake manifold. That should take up part of the day;)

I too have had this happen. My girlfriend took her car in for a tire rotation or something and the tech there said her car needed rear brakes at less than 40k miles. Doubting this, I confirmed my suspicions of them being fine by pulling a wheel and inspecting. I told her that her rear brakes were nowhere near needing replaced, but since I'm not a "tech" she insisted that I replace them cause that guy said so. So I did. Now at about 130k the car is ready for another set of rear pads. They went the mileage I would expect them to go. :banghead:

Kind of excited here :D, got my blasted frame which was also primed along with other parts;) I should have done it before taking to be blasted, but should have pressure washed the insides of the frame as there is quite a bit of dirt in it, so I may to that sometime in the next few days, but alas, this is a holiday weekend, so probably next week before I get back to it , I love working on this stuff!
