My pintle hitch recommendation

Been using/abusing these on my Dodge (7,000 pounds, Cummins 400+hp, lockers, 38" mil tires, yadda yadda) for years. Pintle or 2" ball combo, but it's one piece so you don't have to worry about the ball breaking off and killing someone or something when you're pulling with a strap. I've yanked stuff like a suburban burned, sunk up to the frame in and full of hardened sand/clay.

I haven't checked yet to see if the bolt pattern fits the JEEP but my guess is yes.

You can get a combo that fits in a 2" receiver, but it might not meet your load rating.

Beg your pardon, but I don't understand your post...? Seems like you're under the impression I was asking some sort of question. :?

 

While we're on the subject, here are some more options.

I use an 18" tall reciever slide-in pintle plate. Gives lots of options for different height trailers, tall truck, etc.

This is a nice strong simple reciever pintle.

Only thing with the separate ball design is, don't hook a chain or strap to the ball, or it's likely to become a missle. A friend of mine told me a story about 4wheeling with his buddies when they were kids and a ball going thru the front and rear glass of the truck.

I know a lot of the jeeps here arne't used for hardcore 4wheeling but I was just reading a thread about a guy trying to yank shrubs with his jeep.

The good thing about it is you can put different size balls in if necessary. Just make sure the ball stem fits the hole properly. Sounds dumb, but you'd be amazed at some of the stuff I've seen. Guy with a 2" ball with about a 3/4" stem in a 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" ball mount hole.
