It had a piece of 10-32 booger welded allthread on it that broke. Pardon the temp roadside repair for the time being. R)

Mine has the pedal rod going thru the firewall into the engine compartment and it's not pulling the carb linkage to full throttle. When you release the pedal, it hits the hard fuel lines and when you floor it, it hits the firewall on the engine side. What's wrong here? Someone put the wrong something on at some point?

    Thanks

Throttle full open, pedal hitting firewall. If not for the baling wire, throttle wouldn't open fully.

Bump. Any 225 owners mind taking a look at yours and seeing what's supposed to be where?

If the '71 is the same as the earlier ones (I believe they were) you're missing a linkage piece that goes on the carb. Hang on and I'll get some pics..

    Thanks

I know I'm missing the link, but the problem is even if/when i had one, the flat part of the pedal linkage on the engine side of the firewall hits those hard fuel lines when the throttle is released. If you connect the two with the throttle closed and the bar against the lines, the bar will hit the firewall before the carb gets full throttle. Simple enough to bend the lines so they go elsewhere, that way the pivot bar could have more throw, but I wonder how it's "supposed" to be.

Also, when talking to mxdigger @ the swap meet today, it ocurred to me that I have 3 fuel lines, like 2 supply lines to the pump (or one's a return?) and one to the carb....odd, I need to go look at it again.

Mine never had the fuel lines run back there (that I know of).
I made the linkage piece, but it's pretty much an exact copy of the factory piece.

    Thanks!

What's he little gold light switch lookin' chain for?

Where DO your fuel lines go? One from tank to pump to carb or more like mine?

Approx how long is your link rod hole-to-hole so I know where to start?

    Thanks again

The bead chain is for my hand throttle.
The fuel line runs straight up the front of the motor from the pump. Lemme go measure that rod.

It's not as late as I thought it was, think I'm gonna run out to the shop and look at it, take more pics, see where those lines go, it's bugging me. Have a radiator mounting height question too.

My linkage measures ~7 1/8" center to center. Keeping in mind that the end piece is threaded on (adjustable)

Bottom of fuel pump = 3 lines - there are 2 going to thru the hardlines up across the engine to the fuel tank between the frame rails in the back and one to the carb.

2 Hard lines to pump, pump to carb (red hose)

    Hardlines top rear pass side

Hardlines coming down - need to figure out where that oil leak is coming from.

Radiator mounted too high I think but will the top tank seam get damaged by the sheetmetal flange if I lower the radiator. Needs foam/rubber isolator?

How ya like this wiring? First trip out the batt started boiling cuz the alt isn't regulated or hooked up right or something....

Nice hand throttle setup Patrick. Where did you find the ratcheting bicycle shifter?

It just looks like to me that the fuel lines are just slid back towards the fire wall too much. I would think you could just lossen that clamp on the head, slid the tubing forward and you would be good to go. I also notice that there is a filter in the line by the fire wall. Originally the fuel filter was down by the fuel pump. Pumps are made to push, not really suck. It's not a good idea to have a filter before the pump.

Thanks Mike. My lines do look similar to those, but maybe they were bent improperly. If i move them forward, they hit the distrib. I tweaked 'em around last night up by the carb so the throttle works right but it's not quite right.

Thanks on the filter, think I knew that and had forgotten it. With as old and cruddy as this thing is though, seems like a good idea to have one before the pump, but it probably doesn't make the pump happy. It's been on there a while so hopefully it's got all the junk filtered out, I'll put a fresh one on after the pump. Need to replace all the hoses anyway. Last night when I was tweaking the hard lines, I cracked one of the "rubber" lines. Didn't run very good that way, or at all rather.

Think I could get some more pics from a little farther away that show where things are supposed to go? Mine's pretty rough and it's my first early Jeep/V6 so I'm a little in the dark.

Did figure out that the radiator was mounted higher because the body mount in the front is missing, so the rad hits the crossmember if you try to mount it lower. R)

I think the worst part of this thing is the wiring.
