    Hey Guys,

Subject line says it all. I am definitely in need of a new tub on my '67. Front fenders, hood, and windshield frame are all in good or at least repairable condition, but the tub is s-h-o-t SHOT. Where's the best/cheapest place to get a new steel tub?

Why not Wiilysoverland? Is it cost, quality, or other? I know they're expensive, but I thought the quality was good as they go through each tub.

Though, for my 2 cents I would look for an original. From what I understand there are tubs to be had in the SW US. I father of a guy I work with lives in New Mexico. I've got him looking for one for me. Nice thing about it is he comes up to WI 3 or 4 times a year and he will bring one back if he can find a decent one. Fortunately I'm in no rush right now.

I'm in no rush, either - it's going to be some time before I'm to the point of putting on a new tub. Won't be able to even begin tearing down until this summer.

I actually visited WillysOverland about 12 years ago. Those guys actually had a bunch of stuff they'd purchased from Jeep when they quit building the CJs. IIRC, they actually build their tubs on the original Jeep fixtures.

Any chance you might have some "before paint" pics of th new tub? True, $3400 is alot of money, but if the build quality is there it may be a savings over trying to salvage a "rust bucket" after having to purchase and weld in, floor panels, hat channels, straighten panels, etc... I'm not an autobody guy, so I might be a bit naive. Just a thought...

I'll let Timmy (53Flattie) chime in...he's in SC so it'd be a bit of a hike, but probably worth it. He posted some pics from a junkyard that had a small number of workable tubs...for around the $800 mark IIRC. I was considering it for my '66 CJ5 before deciding to go the SuperSize route.

Hehe. $800 would make a lot of things worth it, when a new one looks to be $2200 +S&H, MINIMUM. Saw a fiberglass tub somewhere for $1200, but I don't WANT fiberglass.
