Tappered and flanged axle

    Hello,
    i have a m38a1.I want to ask what axle type it have.Tappered or flanged?
    And what's the difference between them?

    If it is the original axle most likely tapered. Easy way to tell is if it has a big nut on the end!
    IIRC tapered were 19 spline, flanged were 30 spline.

    Yup, if it has a nut on the end, or there may be a pressed on cap that covers the nut, that is tapered. If no nut then it should be flanged. All CJ flanged axles were 30 spline.

    Many earlier Tapered axles were 10 spline while later units were 19 spline. Most likely if stock yours would be tapered 10 spline unless a real late model M38a1.
