There is a '64 Tux listed on eBay at a Texas dealer (item #283480930170). Its a pretty Jeep that was apparently "restored" for a TV show. My issue is there is virtually nothing Tuxedo Park about this Jeep except perhaps the paper title. No correct trim, even the seat brackets and dashboard are '66-up. To make matters worse, it has a hand-stamped "Willys" vin plate riveted on the firewall with the Tux prefix. This '64 is a Kaiser Jeep built after Willys was bought out. I'd love to know the frame stampings.
Though the paint and bodywork is very nice, I have to question the build when I see the square PTO coverplate used on the floor for the brake m/c access.
The auction has 6 days to go, and the Jeep is already over $14K!
    Buyer beware!

Hard to believe that is already bid up to $14k. It does not even have a column shifter which I believe would be correct for a 1964 Tux. Just goes to show what a little paint can do in the mind of a buyer. However, if the engine and transfer case were really rebuilt (and done right) in 2010, there is some value to that...

You lost me at 14K. Looks kinda devious to me.

    Sounds like Barrett Jackson pricing.

Single-lever is correct for a Tux in '64. The single lever was introduced in the '64 Tux to go along with the open floor provided by the column shift. This Jeep's serial is 686 units earlier than mine. The dealer is a bit confused pointing out there were only 460 CJ6a's were made. This is a CJ5a and there were a lot of them made!

VIN tag should look like this.

Subject vin is 10514 so at least 1964 is correct year of manufacture.

I thought the single lever began with the V6. Did regular '64 Jeeps have single lever?

I think regular CJ5's still used twin-sticks through '64. I've seen '65s with the single levers. The column shifted Tuxes introduced the single lever for '64.

My tux was a 65, late 64 build originally with a 4cyl. It had a single stick transfer case. It was a 4 speed on the floor.

Why even mention Tuxedo Park for this Jeep.
