thanks Clint. I'll look again, but I re-did the tranny/donut/checked motor mounts after our aug 'con trip.
It seems to shift into OD alright, just won't stay there....I'll have to research shift rings
Will I do any damage by driving daily w/o being in OD?
    Thanks, Jim S.

Per an older thread from the guy in Canada with the bad M38A1 and per a personal phone conv with Herm: probably need a shim for the tranny/Tcase input gear. IIRC it's ~0.030-0.035".

I talked to Herm, gonna order the shift ring/ shift dogs/ gaskets.....I'll pull it apart this weekend to inspect the gears as well
    Thanks again, Jim S.

welp the passanger side motor mount was fuber'ed, front bolt was missing all together:(. Looks like it got bent a bit, jacked up the motor and bolted it back up. Looks like the rubber is seperated a little from the mount. Took it out for a drive...OD still pops out of gear
Gonna rest up a bit and go mess w/ it later......sometimes the 6 as a DD is a pain:mad:

It's broken beyond repair. Take it out and send it to me for proper disposal.

Yep, read about the MM. Glad you got that solved. Just wondered if you got on to the syncro kit. I know about the DD. Mine is too but I just don't drive it my 100 miles to work and back. :)

I agree with sdcj6, a hopeless cause. I also have an adequate facility here for proper disposal. Let's see your guns, Taylor. :D

Sounds to me like it could be a worn shift fork in the overdrive. Mine has the same exact problem except it's popping out of direct drive. I can only drive it in overdrive. My shift fork is severly worn and is not letting the overdrive shift rings to be pushed far enough to have a solid engagement. It pops as soon as your rpms go up right?
