I just picked up a 58 Willy's cj5 a couple weeks ago and need some input on build ideas. It's pretty much all stock original f134 and all. Has fiberglass tub though not a big fan of that. So anyways I'm looking to go summertime daily driver/ mudding build no rocks to climb around here. So any ideas on an engine swap on the cheaper side would like to keep t90 tranny and Dana 18 tc if possible. Was thinking of swaping in some 83 cj7 widetrack axles I found for dirt cheap with front disk brakes Dana 30 front amc 20 rear with 3.31 gears. I want the wider stance for bigger tires and more stability on the road. My grandpa hurt his back in the army due to a jeep roll over. Thanks in advance!

The Cj 7 axles will not work with the Dana 18 tc. The Dana 18 has an offset rear out put you would need a Dana 20 0r a 300 tc to get the out put to line up correctly with the rear differential. A Buick 231 or 225 are good engine upgrades or for just putting around there is nothing wrong with the f134.

Which I've debated about but my drive to work is about 25 mins with two 10 min give or take stretch of 55mph road it's all small towns and woods around here but I'm worried the f134 won't hold up. Also for some reason my breaks and headlights aren't working. I got a carb rebuild kit and that's gonna be my first rebuild. Other then that just adding seat belts for now. Also how do I post pictures for you guys?

You have to use a photo hosting service (i.e.) photo bucket ,image shack or other. The f 134 will hold up get a warn type overdrive to lower rpms and the brakes can be up graded to 11 inch drum or disk for a reasonable amount of money lots of write ups on this in the tech section .
