With the Rubicon trip coming up I'm thinking a skid would be a good idea on the oil pan....not sure how I'd mount one.....weld to the pan?, mount to the pan flange bolts?, something from the bell housing?
Going back to work but can post a pic later
    Thanks, Jim S.

I presume you realize that the Jeep pans are reinforced with a flat piece of steel, welded to the bottom otf the pan. I don't think the pans are special otherwise, and the plates appear to be spot welded to the regular oil pan. What pan are you using now, Bronco? I think the Bronco pan has a rear sump, and it may already have a skid plate (but probably not if that's the pan you are using now).

F-heads are reinforced. At least mine was. Some V6 pans were too. Beeser has a factory original pan with the skid plate built in.

All the Jeep 232/258s I've seen are reinforced. The sump hangs low. I don't think the AMC V8s are, but they aren't so exposed.

I know it's not the same as a 289 ford, but here's what the factory put on the 225 in 1970:

I guess I haven't looked close to see how it's attached.

Yep, part of the Renegade package (and, like most Renegade features, possibly an option as well).

No Problem. Happened to have the pics on hand so easy to post up. Good luck!

Here's the 258 in my pickup. AFAIK this is typical.

My Fhead has the skid plate attached to the bottom of the pan. 53 M38A1 so it was probably standard on the military rigs.

When I originally put the 231 in my '59 CJ 5 I welded a skid plate similar the designs above to the oil pan so I wouldn't have issues. I had the pan off at the time so it made it easy. I let it sit full of solvent for about 2 days to check for leaks before I installed it just to be safe. Never leaked, never been a problem. I've found it's made the pan much more rigid too....
