4.0 exhaust manifold on 4.2

its not exactly fabrication but its an odd atempt at a modification.

I have had 3 stock 4.2 exhaust manifolds break on me while on the trail. now im not very nice to my jeep but i didnt think i was doing anything that crazy the last time it broke so i decided i need to change something. Friend asked me " why dont you put a manifold off a 4.0 on it, its kinda like a header?" Now i told him that wouldnt wory cuz the bolt holes on the center 2 ports are not the same. on the top side, on a 4.0, there is a singel bolt in the center while on the 4.2 there is 2 bolts. one on both sides at the top. his reply was right to the point. "cant you just shave off the flange on the top to get rid of the center part of the bracket and use something to catch the lip on the outside's?"at first i said no. but now i wonder could that b done:? is there any other reason why that would not work other than the bolt holes in the center? i think im going to try it and see what hapens. any information you may have on this subject would be helpful.
