Most of my pictures disappeared so let me try this again. :susp:

I traded a set of tires for this 55 3B on July 23, 2018. I wanted to make it something I could run on trails and not worry too much about busting it up. Tub is a swiss cheese factory and engine was open to the elements and on its 2nd(?) rebuild. I decided on attempting an F134 "Hi-Po" build with the old engine (no dyno slip promised ;)). Frame was cracked and had previous....repairs.

Suspension: nice and broken in YJ springs over axle and shackle reversal. I lengthened the frame horns with 2x3x1/4 square tubing and made the front spring hangers out of 1/4 plate. Rear spring hangers were made of 1/4 angle iron. Shocks are currently undetermined but F250 shocks look about right.

Tub: I'm calling the rusted out portions weight reduction and leaving it for now. The tool box will be removed so I can run some bars to tie into the would be cage so I can sit in there without falling through the floor.

Powertrain: F134, T98, D18 but I *think* the rear adapter plate can be swapped between the t18 and t98 so a D20 could be used.

Frame: Should've been scrapped but I'm cheap and wouldn't buy another. I removed the rear brace so I could try to squeeze a CJ5 tank back there. It'll be tight but should fit.

Axles: I have 3 D25's and a WT D30 for the front (still undecided) and 2 D44 tapered. I'd like to either FF a D44 or find an offset flanged D44.

Steering: I acquired an FSJ tilt column and steering gear (saginaw) It will be a challenge to keep all the steering linkage clear of the leaf springs.

Brakes: I'm shooting for 4 wheel disk. I think I can repurpose the stock brake arm to make a partial hanging pedal setup.

Anyhow that should cover most of the stuff.

Looks like a fun project. I recently picked up a 53 3b and was hoping to keep it mostly stock, but I to have a NT 30 and flanged 44. I think both may be over kill for my F head, but seeing as I have them, might as well use them. But thats down the road. I have the YJ springs on my 46. Not sure how well they will work, but going to give them a try. Keep us up to date. Also interested to find out what you are building for a HP F-head. I had to pull my original motor for a bad number 2 rod bearing. Was thinking of pumping up the old motor at some point. God knows these little F heads could use a boost.

Well the front hoop came out good (in my opinion). I'll be having ubolt plates cnc'd out of 3/8" and will scrounge up something to tie the front hoop into the frame.

I pulled some decent buckshot II's (285/75/16) off a truck today. Should work fine and they're free if I can grab'em before the tire guy tomorrow.
I guess I've been waiting for a D30 NT to show up locally and I was going to reweld the front spring hangers and redo the back half of the frame sometime after that. In time I'll make something happen.

I have my rear brakes figured out and solved the lack of a parking brake.
Suzuki Samurai uses 5x5.5 bp so I have rotors from one and some internet searches, flipping through the rock auto catalog, and local junk yard yielded me 300z rear calipers, hoses, e brake cables, and brake pads. I think I'll go back and grab the e brake handle assembly.

Gonna place an order for a Rochester 2g and air filter and do a tune up on the F134. Glad to be spending money on the 3b again

Maybe in the next week or two I can weld the frame up in the front and start remodeling on the rear portion.

Yessir it is. Cleaned the points, oiled the cylinders, spun it over, shot some gas down the carb and boom. Tough old mill. Thanks again.
I have some engine mounts that might work on your jeep build and some hydro clutch items just let me know and I'll send some pics of it.

That’s great that it ran that quickly.

Ordered a 2G, 10x2 air filter, low pressure electric fuel pump, and a couple other things. Putting the cart in front of the horse but I want the engine ready when I drop it in. Header flange pattern is made. Got the exhaust bolts soaking fwiw. I'll be in Dallas for automatic transmission class next week so I get friday and saturday off to work on the jeep :bananatool:

Took a detour before leaving for out of town to look at my carburetor (Amazon shipping ftw) and picked up some 5/16 bolts for the adapter.

Got the 2g mounted. I had to cut the kick down part off the throttle linkage and remove the choke assembly. Then the adapter bolt holes were slightly opened up so it’d slip over the studs. I’ll try to find a fuel fitting for the carburetor so I can run it. Nothing like taking the death wheel to a new carburetor :)

Did the mounting holes line up? I can’t remember if that adapter was made for the same size Rochester as what the 225 takes.

Those lined up fine. This is a large base carburetor. I think you told me the original carburetor was off or for a 350?

Sweet. No idea what it was for/from. It was $20 in a FLAP’s bargain bin.

I have some fine tuning to do but I'm calling it good for now until it gets installed. All that raw power :D
    I'm working on the header.

Eh,,,no. There is a spark plug wire that is pretty much cut in half. I tried to stick it back together but it was pretty crusty. It really needs the plug wires though (they're all corroded and loose.)
When I get to the point of dropping the engine in the frame I'll do a full tune up and adjust the valves.
