    Learned something new today.
While doing some parts application chasing thru the DJ3A parts manual, I came across this picture of different windshield frames.
Has any one ever seen the bottom ventilating frame ?

That looks like the cj3b venting windshield. I have seen many pictures but have never seen one in person.

I agree with Framer Mike that it may be the 3B version. I think I have seen DeBella's Jeep listing the 3B version as in stock, price inquire. I never inquired.
Some of the Dispatchers came with a variety of windshield frames. I think the fiberglass hardtop version of the windshield bolted on vertically with a fairing around the cowl.

Yes, ventilating windshield for a 3b. Standard piece for any export CJ3b and M606.

I wouldn't think so. They may physically interchange ( or not) but I would surmise that the "low silhouette" would be for the 3B and the high silhouette would be for the 3A........going by the cowl height of each. Just a guess.

Interesting, or confusing, that they are all listed under DJ3A body parts.

Note the captions. The top pic is "high silhouette" with the added space under the glass (standard for 3A) and the bottom two are "low silhouette" (standard for 3B). They're interchangeable, but the 3B windshield on the 3A is way-short.

Edit: Wheelie beat me to it. (y)

Is it possible that we are all wrong and none of those shown are in fact for a 3B? I'm just guessing at this whole thing. And I AM wrong a lot.

They all interchange but are really low on a low hood Jeep. It most likely was included as a mistake in the parts book.

You are all correct and so is the above pic.
The DJ alone had several optional W/S.
The one that was called the "Low Silhouette" which was the exactly the same as the 3B W/S.

There was a DJ3 model around '62 that had the "low" windshield frame (but not vented) and also had a "fastback" looking soft top. It was not the Surrey model either. I remember one before I was driving legally. It also had 13" rims with only 4 lugs.

    That's cool.

It reminded me of these hub caps I saw on CL this morning. A little different... probably for a car?

Jim, That's just what I remember from the early '70s from a couple streets over from ours. It was a strange looking flat fender. I don't remember all the details, like the low wipers though. I don't remember a bench seat or no fuel filler on the side either. I never got the opportunity to ever work on that one. It lived in the guys garage and rarely saw the light of day. I wonder what ever happened to it? This is an interesting model with the different features.

Strange for sure. If the drawing dimensions are accurate the height of the windshield glass on the DJ-3A appears to be greater than it is in other windshield frames. Something doesn't seem right.

I'm late to the party with this comment ... The CJ-3B-like windshield shown above is NOT for the CJ-3B, but rather for the DJ-3A Convertible. Only the convertible model of the DJ-3A used a CJ-3B-sized windshield. The critical difference is that it did NOT have the channel across the top for which you could slide the front of a soft top through to secure it. Instead, it used twist tabs similar to the 2A to secure a soft top. This allowed the top to be removed from the front and laid down in the back like a convertible top.

Unfortunately, this shorter windshield isn't all that practical for my 6ft frame. And, if I did have the original fast-back style soft top, it would likely be flapping on top of my head.

The attached pic shows my convertible windshield with the tabs.

I like the twist tabs hold downs. That makes the original drawing for the low silhouette wrong since it shows the channel.

I find this interesting. I've seen a few ventilating tall 3A/M38 windshields on build photos. I'm guessing they are custom. I'd pay big $$ for one of those.
