How many years between rebuilds have you guys seen? I bought an Echlin 2-5478 kit back in August, just haven't installed it yet (wanted to see how the colder weather would affect the current performance). Last rebuild was March of '91... pretty much got my moneys worth on that one!!;) With the colder (subjective) weather, idling has been rough at best. Once the engine warms up, I still need to have the choke partially engaged to keep it running at idle. Off-idle seems ok, and at speed on the freeway it seems ok... just the throttle response is not as crisp as I would like. Regardless I'm rebuilding the 2GC, just wanted some thoughts from the members here... TIA.:stout:

Well the 2GC is set up with an auto choke. You sure you have the choke set up properly for colder weather?

Mine has the factory manual choke, so it's just a 2G. Sorry...

If you are running with the choke partially out I'd look for vacuum leaks. If none are found, you may need to adjust your idle jet screws.

    **UPDATE**
Yup... As I thought, needed a full clean and rebuild. No point in trying to tune/ adjust a carb with this mess inside. This is original carb to my CJ; with the last rebuild in early '91 by me. All (appropriate) parts are now in the cleaning solution...

FYI The one I have below in the FS forum has a great fitting throttle shaft.
The remainder if the carb is basically unknown condition.
