After some long delays and other engine work, upgrade alternator, radiator rebate, hoses, wiring repair, power steering addition, etc I’m getting close to filling fluids and get it firing.
It was my first carb rebuild and went fairly easy. I know there are going to be some adjustments Witt jets etc. I assume but no nothing about carbs really. Is there a guide so where about dialing in a carb, motor, etc.?
Nothing changed with timing, valves, etc so really just about fuel as I didn’t want to make too many changes at once so I’m not chasing many issues at once. Tips? Guidance? To get this old motor running better ?

Not a lot of adjustments on these carbs....set your float level & drop to the spec in the rebuild kit. Once you get it running adjust the idle mixture screws with a vacuum gauge, just set them to your best vacuum reading. If you don't have a vacuum gauge, start with the screws about 3 turns out and slowly turn them in until the idle starts to drop off, then go back out 1/4 turn.

@Jonbbrew I searched the word Carb and then "Posted by member" I put in my name. That brought up about 5 pages of 2G carb discussions. I feel for you, I saw you asking questions and some of the threads dated back 5 years ago. It looks to me like you rebuilt it 5 years ago. Maybe it's gummed up from sitting? Most of these things are solved by a good thorough cleaning. I would search the word Carb and do some more digging. I ran out of time this morning, but I know there are some good threads talking about mixer screws, timing advance, idle RMP and Dwell, etc.

Remember do one thing at a time and I would start with setting the carb to factory spec.

Some good advice right there...many many times I've seen a "bad carb" that was actually ignition/tune up problems.

To adjust the air/fuel with a vacuum gauge where does the vacuum gauge get hooked to? Any port on the carburetor?

Any manifold vacuum source, on the intake or the base of the carb. Don't use the ported vacuum connection on the side of the carb.

But doesn’t ported go to distributor advance? If so I thought I heard/read where you can T off of that too?

Yes. But that's not what you want for setting the idle mixture.
