1976-95(?) Cj / Yj Fold & Tumble Rear Seat Support Legs

I'm in the process of installing an '86 CJ fold & tumble rear seat in an earlier CJ, and having it reupholstered to match the original front seat pattern. I thought I'd share something I discovered in the process of working on this seat that might help out some folks needing to replace the original legs on theirs.

I knew the original support legs looked familiar, but it took me awhile to figure out why. It turns out that they are pretty much identical to the 5/16-18 adjustable hood bumper bolts that were used for years in GM cars (as you're aware, GM supplied AMC with many of its parts). I believe they are the same as were used in the YJ rear seats, too (at least the earlier ones).

You can easily find exact replacements for these bolts, including the original rubber pads over the flat ends, online on eBay, Amazon, etc. Just search for GM 5/16-18 hood bumpers. There's a guy on eBay right now selling a set of 4 for $6.00 including shipping. Here are some reference photos.

Now that you have whetted our appetite with the project, when are we going to see pictures? The seat that your fitting is more available then the correct years. I’ve been looking for a rear seat for my ‘61 locally with no luck.
