Got a 1970 Jeepster Commando work project. Its a Commando body on a JK chassis with a chevy LQ4, auto trans, atlas drivetrain. Needless to say that most of it is custom.

Trying to keep the body and exterior looking original. I'm trying to figure out how the original fuel filler and gas cap were mounted to the body. I came into this project late and can't find any parts from this area that were originally there. Got a new fuel fill hose from MTS that is rubber and has a 6 bolt flange that looks like it would mate up nicely to the 6-bolt fuel filler hole on the body. What I can't figure out is how a gas cap would be held on with this setup. Is there an exterior plate that sandwiches the body that holds on the fuel cap?

I've been searching the internets for days looking for parts, pictures or even parts diagrams that list fuel filler parts for 1970 commandos. The only things I've been able to find are pics of fuel filler hoses like the one I have or the various gas tanks and sending units.

Would anyone with a similar year commando be willing to snap some pics of the fuel filler from the font with the cap off and maybe some from behind?

Does a later CJ style filler bolt in? Obviously the hoses would be custom, thats not a problem.

    Thanks for any help!

Quick and lousy photo of the parts manual showing the metal flange and plates that secure the filler hose to the body.
Vent hose nipple fitting shown as well.

That is exactly what I needed to see and exactly what I thought was happening! Thanks Jpflat2a!

What does it list for a part description for 4.141-10? Any idea of where to get one?

That's the fuel filler neck flange. Where the gas cap attaches to.
Three different part numbers listed, vented, emissions, etc.

Probably will have to come off a donor Jeepster as I believe model specific.
The CJ's used a different filler flange with metal tube for the filler hose to slide over.
They are hard to find as well.

Haven't found any for a jeepster, but I did find some for a scout that might work and then I found this on ebay 304 Stainless Steel Filler Neck Weld Flange Bung & Vented Stant Chrome Cap | eBay
I'll have to make another plate and drill that one out with the correct bolt pattern, but at least it moves me in the right direction. Technically I could just make my own fill tube off of this anyways.

Thanks for the help! I'll have to post a build thread of this thing at some point.
