Well, I am starting my Build, and it will finished and driving by this December..... I hope that this project is not too offensive, to those of you, who love the look and feel of the early Jeeps...... This truck will NOT be used for rock crawling or off road use..... It is going to be my practical, daily driver for Farm/ homestead use.... We live on a very Remote 1,500 acre Nature Preserve, bordering the Gila wilderness area, in Southern New Mexico. We want a vintage truck, that is 4X4 and has a V6 engine, with plenty of torque.... ( it will actually fit under the 1928 hood which is only 27" long)..... Hence the practical Jeep running gear..... We have an 18 mile, rough dirt road that is our driveway, to get into the nearest small town, (silver City). This road turns to deep mud after about 1" of rainfall, or rain/snow/ice, during the winter months..... Hence the need for 4X4... Now you have to understand that I am in Love with the 1928-1934 look of the cars & trucks of that era... but I need a good working, Vintage 4X4 truck... to haul rocks, dirt, hay, manure and firewood and building materials.... such is our Homestead needs....

So.. please enjoy the project... and realize that we have no grid power (only Solar & a small generator & mig welder)... I am a back yard self taught mechanic, and amature welder and spay paint person... so don't be too hard on my work... Oh, yes, and I have built a varity of vintage (1928-34) cars and trucks from the frame up, installing modern running gear in them, but keeping the Old Vintage look...

So.. starting off with a 1969 CJ rolling chassis [81" wheel base) Great running Dauntless, T-14 tranny, Dana 18 Transfer, 27 front 44 rear 373 gears... power lok rear..... First step.... Stretch the frame to the needed 123 " wheel base of the 1928 chevy 1 ton truck.... and then build a second Straight, Tapered, frame on top of the existing jeep frame, to mount the 1928 body/fenders/running boards .... and move the top front shock mounts out of the way...... so here are some photos of that first step..... Enjoy

Sorry, that’s not how we do stuff around here pal. We measure our build times in years, not months.

For some odd reason when I post on the 'Build thread there is no "upload a file" button next to 'post reply button... so my photos don't show up there... that is strange... here are some more photos.... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

So true, except for one young lady down in Cypress, Texas. She'll have 3 builds completed before most of us get half way through one! ;)

Well.... I pretty much have the jeep frame stretched to 123" wheel base, the straight, tapered frame welded onto the jeep frame thus allowing the 1928 chevy fenders, running boards, splash aprons, radiator and cab and pickup bed.... to bolt right onto the jeep chassis. So I mocked up the fenders and splash aprons and running boards to make sure they fit properly on the new frame rails and steel braces.... I bought a new aluminum radiator that will fit the '28 radiator shell and cool the Dauntless.....photos of the completed frame below..... now getting ready to mount new hydraulic clutch & brake master cylinder with floor pedals.... and mount the jeep gas tank behind the cab below the bed.... then get rear drive shaft lengthened by 42"....... just bought 4 new 6 ply tires 235 R75 15.... waiting for 1.5" spacers, before putting on chassis....I'm having fun building my dream truck .... jeep powered 4X4 1928 body....
