I just recently purchased a Walcks harness and I am having a few issues installing it. The truck had the wiring harness previously removed so I don't have a map to follow at all and the diagrams are lacking in some info. It has the delco starter so which stud is the S and which one is the I. Its also got a Prestolite alternator but the bracket looks like it had a Delco starter on it. Is this going to cause me any other issues besides purchasing a voltage regulator? It also has only one brake light switch in line when the diagram says there should be two. This Jeep looks like a hack previously tried fixing it so I'm running into issues constantly.

Here are a couple of wiring diagrams. I have one for the V6 but the front section (headlights etc....) were cut off. My 1971 had 2 brake senders, on the frame in front and on the M/C.

Thanks for the links. I like diagrams but sometimes actual pictures just make things click.

Not sure what the differences are but here's a diagram for a '69 V6-

That's actually a late '70 or '71 diagram after Kaiser; note the side marker lights. My Kaiser early '70 does not have them. It's otherwise very close, I've found my Jeep has some late V6 features in the wiring; it was obviously a hybrid from '69 to '71.

I'm slowly re wiring each circuit and including a strong ground. Starting and charging circuit is done, now moving through lights. Makes a huge difference. I've photographed some work, but not all. By the weekend I should be able to load them.

The Delco starter "S" terminal is the small one inboard toward the engine. Outer one for ignition bypass. The solenoid cap is labeled but hard to see.

I'm making headway. Next question is, what does the voltage regulator look like for this model? Is it the one with the plug or the black one with the eyelet hookups? Or will either work? Thanks

On the brake switch issue, you only need one. I am not a big fan of prestolite stuff but if you must, I would have the alternator tested before buying a reg for it. If you need the alternator I would go with the 10SI Delco which has the built in regulator.
