X3 or eleventy billion...whichever is greater. That has to be one of the ugliest bumpers out there that wasn't home made..... Sorry. The rest of the Jeep is beautiful!

I will let him know the overwhelming consensus is to get a new front bumper.

    Well, here's the answer:
The ugly bumper installed. I really don't care for the looks of his thing. It's too tall and blocks the headlights some so I am sure it will cast a shadow. Maybe not if the spots are on too.

NICE job! It's no mystery that it's not our favorite bumper but its fresh paint and light relocation looks great. You're doing a great job delivering what the client wants.

The customer is always right. Working in the housing field a customer would ask me about their color choice. Ummmmmmmm,
"I'm sort of old school, a bit bright for me" while I was thinking that I was happy that I didn't have to live with it. You do what you're paid to do.

What is the purpose of the double hood latch brackets? My original has only one.

This was never meant to be a restoration project. Had it been that his cost would have gone through the roof because there are so many non-factory modifications.
This Jeep was offered to me in trade for $2500 in labor toward another project he has. I turned it down because of all the "issues" with it.

You mean a simple Jeep project spiraled out of control and became a money pit . . . say it isn't so, rofl.

Jeep = Just Empty Every Pocket

Now we are looking at notching the wheel wells and fabricating seat frames so we can put in the cushy fabric seats that don't match the rear vinyl seat.

Yeah, he changed his mind on the seats.
I guess we are going with the Smittybilt buckets - hope they really are "direct fit."

IIRC, I have Smittybilt seats in my Jeep, and they required a homemade bracket to make them fit.

    Installed the roll cage:

Took 2.5 hours for me to get that thing in the Jeep with minimal damage to the paint. Waiting for the new set of bucket seats to come.
Working on the rear bumper and swing out spare tire mount now.

This CJ looks really really good!

I went back to the beginning of the thread and re-read how this project started. You're doing all this for $2500 - 3k? That's a bargain! The owner should be arrested for violating labor laws.

No, I am charging him time and materials. He wanted to trade me the jeep for $2500 towards labor on another project but I turned him down. Way too much work needed for my budget.
He's going to change out the 33" tires and go with 31" and new rims. I am redoing his existing spare tire carrier and making it a swing out that will handle the 31" spare and his hi-lift jack.
