Love this Jeep, I'm excited to see pics of it moving under it's own power. I ultimately want to go in a similar direction with mine.

I have had several people ask about the AC/heater unit I am installing in my CJ6 both here and other boards so I thought I would just post up the parts list for all to see. This is the list that came with the box. It was bought as a kit. The kit # is in the middle at the top. I ordered it from JeepAir online. I have called them a couple of times for different fittings to make it fit the way I wanted and a couple of other questions. They have always been helpful and friendly.

Put the front together. Tried to put in the radiator and it hit the power steering fittings at the gear box.
    20191005_134440.jpgresized.jpg

I had to reroute the fittings out to the front and hose back under the radiator.
    20191010_113804.jpgresized.jpg
Got the radiator and fan in.

Had the glass installed in the frame.

    20191009_150720.jpgresized.jpg

Put all the stuff on the frame and set it on the body. I figured it was safer there than leaned up against the wall.

Playing with trany coolers. I had one of the round ones with the fins but didn't find a place where I really like putting it.
Decide to go with a Derale 13611 cooler. The paper is the same size and this is where I decided to mount it.

    20191013_113620.jpgresized.jpg

Started running the trany cooler lines. Cooler is supposed to be here Thursday.

I take a lot more pictures than I post so if you aren't bored enough you can see all the pictures of this project in the link in my signature at the bottom.

Its is wonder after seeing this that I have gotten as far with this Jeep as I have. The motor has been sitting in the shop for a good number of years.......
    20191021_111330.jpgresized.jpg

I never noticed the freeze plug was gone, nada, nix, nothing, gone.

Also changed out a second one but didn't take pictures.

Also had a leak in the radiator, that didn't surprise me. The radiator had been banging around the shop for almost as long as the motor. Took to the radiator shop, they pressure tested it was swiss cheese. Spent the next day chasing a Jeep CJ to Chevy motor conversion radiator. I will let everyone know what I got when it gets here. (hint it wasn't cheap)

New radiator arrived. I ordered it from Novak, wasn't cheap. I got it because the mounting brackets are not welded to the radiator. The radiator sits in a rubber lined cradle that mounts to the grill. I also bought the Spal Fan they sell with it, comes assembled.

I have been trying to figure out how to get something between me and the SW sun but a single piece of metal. The ribs in the top gave me and idea.

    20190728_152207.jpgresized.jpg

I took my idea to the local Heating and Metal shop and they made me some plates with the edges bent up to sit between the ribs but not allowing them to go all the way to the bottom leaving room for insulation.
    20191119_123703.jpgresized.jpg

I bought some DEI D-Mat insulation and glued it to the bottom of the plates.
    20191120_114911.jpgresized.jpg

Dropped the plates in between the ribs and pop riveted them in place.
    20191120_103713.jpgresized.jpg

Had them make some plates to go around the edges.
    20191121_111708.jpgresized.jpg

I will glue in insulation and install the the plates and pop rivet them to the other plates.
    20191121_113037.jpgresized.jpg

It may not do a lot but every little bit helps.

I have been kinda stalled out waiting on materials and parts, issues with column ignition switch. So I look for other paths to work in the mean time. One thing had not started on was the rear bumper, knew what I wanted to build but hadn't got stated. Messing around on the web I found that Rock Hard 4x4 had that exact bumper that I wanted to build so I ordered one early Thanksgiving week and it arrived .
    yesterday.
    20191204_110212.jpgresized.jpg

So I had to mess with right away. Drilled the hole through the bumper to put the pivot pin in.
    20191204_115037.jpgresized.jpg

Getting ready to weld it in place.
    20191204_115103.jpgresized.jpg
Yes it goes clear through and will be welded top and bottom.

Parts cut for the tire/gas can carrier. I am building another one like I have on the other 2 Jeeps. But I an not planning on doing this one my self. I am going to take it the local High School Welding Shop and let them assemble and weld it up. Give them a chance to put their new found skills to work. I substitute for the Instructor when she need to be gone and have been there about 6 days this school year. So I know the students and they know me.
