Picked up this badboy for 500 complete with top, warn overdrive and a i think its called a draw bar, whatever the thing the hitch attaches to. I think it is a sears aluminum half cab. It also came with a total of 3 steering colums and a semi cool spare tire carry.

No pictures of the top before hand but there is about 5 bucks worth of rust-olem on there. Just wanted it good enough for the winter then I will paint it proper in the summer.

Have a rear main leak got really bad pretty good size puddle of oil every time I parked it overnight. complained to my dad and he came back with some stop leak that came with the house when we bought it 16 years ago was probably old then but it seemed to do the trick, slowed down to just a couple of drops now. Also put the doors on still no heater but whatever the exhaust keeps you warm, and a bit dizzy
Once I get my heater I think its time to start driving it full time.

Thanks I argued with myself whether to go black or white but I think I made the right choice. I kinda wish I painted the inside but one winter of it being ugly is not going to kill me. It needs new felt about everywhere it sounds like a tool box being thrown down a flight of stairs in there.

Your jeep looks great! I love the tires and the look of the hardtop, very unique rig you have there.

So I was reading your posts and these two comments made me laugh becuase they are so freaking true.

"Also put the doors on still no heater but whatever the exhaust keeps you warm, and a bit dizzy"

"It needs new felt about everywhere it sounds like a tool box being thrown down a flight of stairs in there."

I showed my girlfriend these comments because her and my roomates are convinced my jeep is a heap. But what they don't realize is that if you don't smell exhaust that means your engine does not work, if you dont smell gas that means your fuel tank is empty and if there isnt oil on the floor that means your out of oil :)

Its a vehicle only an owner of one can understand.

none of the gauges ever work so the smell is the only indicator, smells hot, smells like I am burning oil, smells like I am low on gas.

Got the summit heater installed, so that means snow time. I need new tires these suck so bad in the snow especially the ones in the rear there like racing slicks.
It was hard to go anywhere in two, but once I put it in four it never stopped.

Here is a picture I took while I was driving it's supposed to be just as bad tomorrow so I probably won't go to work if I can't get out of the driveway in my car.

Ofcourse I had to get off the road so I found an old ditch to get some willys flex pictures.

That's the CJ5 story, there is zero traction in 2wd in snow. They're just too light. Moral of the story is once the road is slippery enough that the transfer case won't bind, put it in 4Hi and forget it.

Just got back from the gym seems the jeep has some pretty bad understeer. It was only a 3 mile drive but anyone who lives in colorado knows there is alot of hills. On my way home coming out of town the is a pretty good hill some people depending where you're from would say mountain. I tried 2 but all I did was slide around almost off the edge, I just stopped in the middle of the street and put in 4 and it still had a hard time starting up hill. Seams the jeep needs some new tires before I trust it to much in the snow.

Back after a few years, spent 2 years in Alaska and the Jeep stayed with my dad in his garage. Currently living in Denver with my jeep being a 5 hour drive away at my dad's. Getting ready to take it to Moab this May to the willys rally. Went the year before I left to Alaska and had a great time.

Got back to Colorado May of last year and looking forward to getting to enjoy the jeep again. Been trying to get it ready for Utah, put rings and connecting rod bearings in. Helped clear up the blue smoke a lot. Put on a 7.4:1 compression head I had from a different engine. Also while I had the head out I took the time to grind the valve seats and valves to get a good seal.

Once it was all back together I had a miss at idle and on acceleration. So we put it on the old Snap-On scope didn't really help us at all though. Tried to get the timing closer to 5' BTC but we ended up at 12' BTC. Had the weirdest thing happen when trying to get it timed. Distributor was stuck so we hit it a hammer and a punch when it was running. Not hard just enough to move the distributor and it died instantly. Seems anytime there is a rough hit on the distributor it dies instantly. Not sure if this is play in the distributor or something else. Any ideas where it start looking?

Here are some pics of it on the scope and running.
