As much as I love Jeeps, I like the quad for moving smaller amounts of snow. Much more maneuverable and easier to change between forward/reverse.

We have a blower on the tractor, but if it's 6" or less of snow I just used the quad.

Of course, you need to bundle up:

First, love the dogs! They're ready to go! Thanks for your comments. He just bought a new side x side that would push some snow too. I've just always thought about putting a plow on one of our Jeeps. We'll see . . .

I’ve been plowing my neighborhood for the past few years.

picked up a complete used plow set up on CL a few years back . I shipped the motor to a refurb company out in Pennsylvania for a core and upgraded to something more powerful. Replaced the hydraulic lines, found some plow lights and controller. A high output alternator and dual batteries are probably a must, as the plow motor draws a lot of power.

I’ve posted a couple plow videos. What knowledge are you seeking specifically?

If you lived closer I have enough pieces to set up another Jeep....as you probably already know, snow that has gone thru a blower makes a really heavy dense pile of snow....will get your attention even in my JD 310 backhoe (6 ton)

Nice plow setup! Thanks for posting the video. I've thought about putting a plow on one of our Jeeps for some time. I've heard the info I was looking for in this thread. I'm going to start a local search for a good plow, I'm sure something will show up.

The way they kept hitting the snowbanks, that frame must have taken a beating. Not to mention the driver. I always feel like a snowplow Jeep has a rough life hitting stuff that doesn't budge. Probably lots of cracks in the frames of all those snowplow jeeps.

Those v-plows are built as battering rams.

Seems like something's gotta give. Hopefully it's the snow.
Cool to see this old equipment being used.

There was an old guy around here years ago who had a '46 2A with a full cab on it and an F-head in it. It had a 6' homemade plow on the front. To lift the blade he drilled a hole in the windshield below the glass, ran a rope through the hole then through a series of pulley's. He'd pull on the rope inside the cab to lift the blade. He used that Jeep for decades to move snow around his place. I wish I'd taken pictures.

The reason I bought my current CJ5 was to use as a substitute for the ‘67 FJ40 I’ve used to plow my folks place for the past 30 years. I wanted to do a bunch of rust repair and other upgrades to the 40 but couldn’t do without the plow for the several years it will take me to accomplish that project in my spare time. I didn’t want to buy another 40 because they are just too damn expensive. I moved the plow from the 40 to the 5, adapting the mount in a way that didn’t alter it, so I could mount it back to the 40. The plow is a 7’ Meyer. It was the perfect size for the 40 and I’ve been very happy with it on the 5. Last winter was the first season plowing with the CJ and we had near record amounts of snow. I also bought a 6’ wide Bercomac snowblower that is designed for side by sides. I built a mount that allows me to switch it out with the plow. I’ll get some pics for you.

While I figure out the picture thing (I could have sworn I’ve done it before), here is a video my brother in law did on his you-tube Channel about the plow and snow blower.

    .

Plow and blower, what a great setup! I've seen those Bercomacs before, that's the way to go but way beyond my budget. Thanks for posting!

Like your setup ski pilot. Well done.

My Tuxedo had a Meyers plow on it when I got it. Original owner only plowed his lane with it. It will get restored for display with the Tuxedo when I get back to it. It's a 72" manual angle blade. I have another 80" Meyers that I'd like to set up with power angle and actually use....maybe on another Jeep.

I'd still like to find a Meyers V plow for the jeep. If one turns up out there somewhere, let me know. I'm interested.
