So I found this. I will pick it up in a few days.

1969 D100. No big plans other than make it roadworthy. It runs. Texas sun has not been friendly on the original paint or the respray. Not excited about the wheels. Hopefully I will be able to move on from black to this:

Lately I've been seeing crown vic chasis swaps on the f100 unibody. Wonder is it will match the dodge? Nice truck.

I think I saw a kit to use the steering from a crown vic on the dodge frame. Probably above my skill level.

The unibody "only" needs an engine. most everything else is usable.

I’m not a fan of the crown Vic chassis swaps but the front k member swaps I think make total sense. And I’m guessing because I have no idea, it wouldn’t take a ton of figuring to make it bolt up and you get good geometry double wishbone front suspension, discs and R&P steering. Then an 8.8 in the rear and you have the super common 5x4.5 lug pattern for lots of wheel options.

To get it home I had to install a new battery and ignition switch. The electrical system seems to be in excellent condition. It is currently running on a temp gallon tank under the hood. I suspect the carburetor might need some attention. I am not too sure at this point because the radiator and heater core leak profusely. So far I have only driven on and off the U Haul car hauler.

So my current to do list includes:
    Radiator,
    Water pump,
    Thermostat,
    New hoses,
    New V belt
    New heater core
R&R the fuel tank to clean it up
    Lube, Oil, & Filter
    Muffler & exhaust manifold gasket

At one point the truck was in the fleet at NORTH TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY in Denton, TX, which is now University of North Texas (UNT). They are known as the MEAN GREEN. You might have heard of Mean Joe Green who played at UNT and later for the Steelers. [IMG][IMG]
The truck has had an overspray of blue paint which looks to be one thin coat or rattlecan. I am in the process of cleaning the truck which definitely changes the look. I've seen the guys on youTube get those vehicles with the lichen growing on the side. This is the first one I have had with lichen in various stages of growth. I have been using vinegar, SOS pads, and then finishing with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. That sort of gets it clean. I have also used a little 600 grit for wet sanding some of the blue. I think it will eventually be a dark olive green which is the original color. I am sure it has a name from the factory.
