Stick some LED flood or Foglights in the holes.

Maybe just some reflectors? Truck already has 8 bulbs on the front - already planning the "lows & highs" at the same time Chevy hack along with some nice LED replacements for the fog lights.

Perhaps you can cut up and stuff in some black plastic there and tell people it's an air intake?

Or maybe you can find a OEM Chebbie grill in the junkyard and swap it in or piece together what you need from the two of them.

Yea, it's a common enough grille and I had the same thought. Not super-high on the priority list at this point though.

$10 Amazon fix for the busted grille. Just put them in as placebo lights - didn't feel like wiring them up.

I didn't grab a before photo, but compared to this the original lights were like candle light.

With cold weather and snow in Tulsa I haven't gotten much done on the 'burb.

But I do feel like I should comment on a new vendor I tried for this project: Realtruck.com. Realtruck has been acquiring a lot of brands you might recognize including ARE, Bushwacker, Lund, Superlift, and especially important for Jeepers: OMIX. The full list is here: https://realtruck.com/our-brands/

I ordered Husky floormats, AVS window deflectors, and an AVS hood deflector. I actually used their online chat because I saw a reference saying I might be able to get a discount. I did, but maybe $12 on a $288 order.

The floormats and window deflectors shipped immediately and all was well.

The hood deflector, however, was "pending" because they didn't have it in stock and they had to "ship it from the manufacturer" (which they own). It stayed that way for over two weeks. I started pinging their customer service and even though RealTruck owns the AVS brand they were unable to get me any answers on when it would ship. I cancelled the order four days ago, and they still can't tell me if the thing has shipped or not or if they can refund my money yet. I spent time on the phone with their customer service, was promised some email updates, and gotten nothing.

All to say, I can't recommend RealTruck as a vendor. All is well if it's something in stock. But they advertise parts they don't actually have, don't respond to customer service inquiries, and make promises they are unable to keep. I'm not a fan of businesses that grow through acquisition and they are demonstrating all the reasons why.

Just hoping to get my $80 back at this point.

Put the "old man bug shield" on. Not so much for bugs but to mask the 3" dent in the nose of the hood. Figured this was cheaper than bodywork, and I do like it on there. Pretty sure it had one before - the mounting inserts were already there. Probably got busted when the hood got dented.

Tried to record a build video, but it all ended up with too much wind noise. But here's a "current status" photo. Still pretty happy with this truck.

Update: After several more emails and two phone calls to Realtruck customer service I was able to get a refund for the hood deflector. During the second phone call the guy could find no record of the first phone call. :banghead::madwife:.

    New video posted:

No delusions about being a YouTube star, main goals are to get more comfortable speaking on camera and get better at video production to help in my job search.

For this video I switched over to using my Canon that I shoot photography with. I spent $100 on a separate audio recorder and lav mic so I can keep the audio consistent while stepping away from the camera (I can also edit the audio separately to EQ my voice, etc.) Just using iMovie for editing because free.

Question for those of you with more furniture experience than I have.

I need some large drawer boxes for this build - approximately 26" x 60" and 18" x 60" and all around 6" deep. Making these without a shop or much for saws is going to be tough. I can order drawer boxes online but they're telling me they can't make them that large.

Any reason I couldn't double up two drawer boxes on one set of drawer slides? Just screw the boxes to each other then mount them as one? Seems like it's not much different than having a divider in one large drawer.

Maybe there is someone in the area who builds custom kitchen cabinets that can measure and make them for you outa thin luan ply and light weight framing. We had a local cabinet guy build all the cabinets for our house and install them for less than half what the H DEOP wanted. Plus much better quality. Just saying.

Yea, that's another option. Shipping might be a killer for the online suppliers too. I'm just lazy...get in the habit of clicking buttons and getting stuff a few days later...;)

But I also don't like the way traditional drawer design has a recessed bottom - I don't want to lose that 1/2". I don't need fancy - just functional.

Remember, (I am sure you already know) that you will need drawer handles that have a latch when traveling. I use barrel latches when moving and leave unlocked when camping. That way you don't have to fight a locking latch every time you open them when parked and camping.

They may be a hassle, but I plan to use one locking slider on each drawer so I can keep them in place no matter what angle we're on.

Make the drawer handles pivot or rotate so a natural movement like a lift and pull un-locks it and it self-latches when closed.

Or use a tool box style lock bar within and above.

Gotta put sliders on anyway, if I use a locking slider I don't need fancy handles/latches.
