Never show up looking like that around this area!
    Should be a nice project.

Great buy! My '70 Dauntless with 4.88 gears also has a power lock in the rear axle. I'm guessing this one will too. Mine has the same axle tag as yours plus a separate tag calling for limited slip lube.

I believe the earlier 19 spline 44's got the Power Lok and the later 30 spline got the inferior Trac Loc. This was a mid year change in 70.

Ditto colojeepguy. The Dauntless, 4.88, OD is a great combo for drivability. Looks like that Jeep has 30s or 31s. When I had 30s on my Jeep with the same combo, it had enough on the top end to cruise 65, but was surprisingly peppy around town (and that's coming from someone whose previous slowest vehicle driven was an 05 Dakota with a V8) Coming out of my neighborhood I had a stop sign right before a busy 55mph road, and I could always get it up to speed without waiting for an extensively long opening or forcing cars behind me to slow down.

I was suspecting fishy business, but it seems you scored a winner. Congrats!

I don't know what will become of this one when I get it home as my 57 is setup pretty well. 225/T18/20 w/2.5 low range 4.10 geared 30/44 combo with lockers in both ends, disc brakes and power steering. The paint on the 70 is nice but the prep for the paint was not great. Given the purple color under the hood maybe this one is the one to restore. Would be a good home for my set of 15 x 8 Kelsey Hays rims. Now to find another 8274.

When I was a kid, the Scoutmaster of our Boy Scout troop had a purple Renegade. Only one I've ever seen in person.
I'd love to see another purple Renegade restored!

I've got an 8274 in the garage and a set of NOS white Renegade I decals. I think it would be best if you just drop that Jeep and those wheels off at my house on the way back home when you go get it! :sneak:

Do I see the factory skid plated oil pan? Any other Renegade clues present? Possible purple paint and oil pan skid plate has it heading in the right direction.
