In my “NoParts” build I have two frames that I could use.
The first is an early, I think 55 with the reversed front spring mounts.
The other is a later factory V6 frame with a T14
Both in about equal shape, the late frame has modified steering box out front that would have to be removed for the winch. Either would get a ford steering box. The early I would have to swap the engine mounts.
Is there an advantage to either one? Later maybe stronger?
    Thanks

Frames are the same strength aside from wear and tear.
This will boil down to what you are going for in the build? The frame rail profile should be the same but little things like brake line tabs, master cylinder mount, transmission mount, etc, will all be different.

I'ld say it's best to use the later frame for a v6 build. Early for 4cyl. Save the front spring hangers and shackles from the early frame.
Some folks like @FinoCJ would want those small parts for a shackle reversal. But if you need a shackle reversal than you may be more comfortable moving the smaller items around.

    Depends on intended use.

It's going to be a off road capable rig but not an extreme rock crawler. The early frame is too good of shape to cut up for parts.

I have an intermediate frame that will be going for scrap. If it was free, you’d still have paid too much for it!

And I spent nearly 2 years looking for a decent intermediate frame, and transported it 1000 miles. I hate to see parts like this getting scrapped!

Yeah, I drove from Minnesota to Kansas to buy a good frame. The one under the ‘72, though, truly is junk. Cracks, rot, patches… It’s crap. If it had any value, I’d donate it to anyone wanting it - unless they’re gonna sell it for scrap. ;-)

I would say use the latest frame you can put your hands on, they're all old. We just finished some major repairs/upgrades on my '61 3b frame. They all need some love...
