Too bad they are parting it out, I would think an original Perkins jeep would be desirable for a restoration.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there are any serial tags that would identify this, and no mention of a title, so it is likely a parts Jeep. Basically, a Perkins sitting on a rolling chassis, with a body tub.

Appears to be an original Jeep Perkins engine at the least. Sad. Looks like possibly a replacement tub. Serial number on the frame would likely indicate if the frame was original or not. The diesels had their own prefix, but also a separate sequential set of 5 digits starting at 10001 for both CJ5 and CJ6 units. The hard to find parts also appear to be missing. I've found rebuild kits that appear to work for the water pump, but no source that I've found for a complete water pump yet. The radiator is also unique to the Perkins along with the dash controls and plates, plus unique firewall mounted components.

I have called and spoke with the seller when this was first listed. Real nice guy, but he only knows newer Jeeps. His values were way on the high side, like $3,000 of $4,000 just for the tub, which I think is a reproduction. I was interested in the frame, but he thought it was worth $1,800 or $2,000. The whole package back then was like $8,000 or $9.000 What you see is what he has, no other parts. Its up in the Daytona area.

That's Gary Osteen's old shop, not sure who is running it now after he died. Gary was a local legend in the racing/offroad community.
