That one I linked from Ebay is the "finest quality ever made" according to the first website I linked.

Seems like chineseum pullers can be had for $150.

But now I'm going on a trip trying to find the Blue Point puller, though I don't really have the money for one right now. The one I first linked might be wrong. Give me a couple of hours or a couple of days to figure it out and then I'll realize that I'm too poor for this and should just buy the chinesium one.

    I use loaner/rental pullers.

If I were planning a big Colorado or Rubicon trip would book the rental tools ahead of time and return them after I'm home with you repairs made.

Don't know where I got my puller, but I think it came with a bunch of military parts I bought years ago.

I does work really well. In our heavy equipment class we used an OTC Universal Puller looked like the Blue Point puller.

Dave, I really like that nice old tool, although it looks to need some grease! I bought this KD in the early 90's and it lives in my 'seldom used' tool drawer. It was painful to buy at the time as I recall but in retrospect, a USA made tool is money well spent. :flag:

Always there when I need it though. It's a miracle that the cardboard box has survived all these years.

I do remember that I ordered it from Miller Auto parts in Mt. Kisco NY, well before the industry morphed into the Auto Zones, O'Reilly's and Advanced Auto Parts reality we live in now. This is what they had available. It was probably $75.00 at the time.

If I had to buy a hub puller again (and I never will again), I'd hold out and buy a used one. Set up a search filter on eBay and get a nice old school American made unit. I find myself buying more and more used tools....

Funny, that I don't know where my puller came from. It does work well though. Been sitting for a while in the corner.
Used it on the 64 CJ5 and then first 55 M38A1 when I rebuilt the rear end.
Your puller won't be 75.00 anymore, but a very useful tool.
Glass guy said, "No problem." He can make a new windshield panel using a pattern from the old glass.

Will get on that in a week or two.

I think the old used tools are pieces of history. Got a lot of them hanging around.
The other day I was looking for a pickle fork tool and couldn't find it.
Means it is time to clean up the shop.
Lots of old offset wrenches with a lot of patina, I've picked up at yard sales and flea markets come in handy.
I always keep an eye out for a good used valve spring compressor or puller.

There are cheaper ones but who knows what the quality is. I'd go with the US made one. It takes a lot of force to pop the hub off. I've borrowed a vintage one but I still need to buy one as well.

First meaningful post in quite a while. Nothing happening to the A1 right now due to other priorities (work, family and barn insulation). Today, I did have some errands to run in southern NH but I did score two mostly complete fording kits, including exhaust pipes and snorkel support brackets.
Included was a very nice top bow. Most of the nuts and bolts are missing though.
The snorkels are still supple. Tags are still on some of the snorkel brackets and those exhaust pipes look to be NOS. Apparently, these parts were leftovers from a restoration (the guy passed on).

Not a bad haul for $100.00 and I estimate that there's about $700.00 in value here. I wish that the load of thirty-one 8 X 10 shiplap boards beneath cost that much. The lumber is for the 20 foot long south wall of my workshop which I just finished insulating.

I'm amazed every time you pull out or find NOS parts like these. Good score!

Yes jaws can be removed or added. They are spring loaded. You grab the ends of two jaws and squeeze them together which compresses the spring. Then you can slide the other jaws around to a recess cut in the puller and remove or add jaws as needed.
