Nice work, but as a fellow M-series guy, do you have the Douglas tool?

Very ingenious 4-sided crimp tool. I'm a little curious how one crimps without it.

Pics of the 24V hookup on my M38A1's:

Had to make the battery hold downs since the original 2HN batteries were a whole lot bigger.

In that case, unless you have a serious accessory load, such as a winch, you probably don't need the second battery. You could use the space for something else, such as a tool box.
    Or a six pack cooler.

It's been a while since I've posted. Work has been just brutal. I did swap the tires/rims from the project onto my 54 (for grins and giggles) on Saturday AM. The problem is that I like them so much, I'm debating leaving them on. They're aired to 25 lbs and I'll try at 30 because it does sway a little bit above 30 MPH.
I have a set of 5 X 16 rims which would allow 7.50 x 16 tires. This would put the final tire size at 7.90 x 30.5 and I'd have to investigate rubbing and turning radius factors. If I make that move, I would put that set on the 54' which is not nearly as stock as 52' project.

I got one recently Tim. It crimps on four sides of the connector.
I was at the right place at the right time and picked up this old kit (just the box). Yard sale, go figure.
Some of the contents are what I've recycled from the old harness which was hopelessly rotten. All the shells and bushings are fine to reuse. The grommets and pins are obviously not reusable.
There's a laminated sheet which is attached to the inside of the lid. I think this box was unused/unissued.
I have to say that I'm 100% sold on using Douglas connectors for future projects.

Personally I wouldn't. Even 25psi is a lot for an unladen jeep.

The NDT tires ride on their center rib on pavement, and they have terrible "wet" traction. YMMV.

I love 'em. Weatherproof, set and forget.

Marked my NDCC tires with chalk to check wear pattern. I run them at 27 psi. Over about 40 to 45 it starts to get a little hairy on these country roads.

The tire shop aired them to 30 PSI. I'll try them at 27 like you suggest. Thanks Dave and I hope that all is well in NC...!

Good, here. Heading back up Wed. to clean out the fridge and freezer after the power has been out for a week. My brother is tired of running off generators, but glad it wasn't worse. He is cleaning up trees, doesn't know what to do with all of the debris, but still feeling blest.
    All Good.

Very nice! That's my kind of yard sale. Those little parts are getting expensive.

I'm glad I ditched them. Although, I'm not going for a factory restoration. I ended up taking apart of the headlight connector and soldering new wires into the old connectors. Wasn't too bad actually. I put a Deutsch connector on the other end to make adding new circuits easier. I jsut have the headlights looked up currently. I want to have the dash hooked up as well. Currently, I just leave the lights on and put the dash lights in park so it's one switch to turn them on. I dind't bother wiring the taillighs and don't have any blackouts anymore. I would have liked to put a 4" spot light on the blackout but then I couldn't run it with the headlights on. Maybe I should put the headlights on the black out then I can turn on the spot light?

I'm loving that half cab. I'm put one on and run it year round with the doors off.

Thanks Jeff, I'm really fond of the half cab too. There are a lot of people who don't like them and I presume that it's because of the weight, which further bogs down a low horsepower vehicle. It was short money about 10 years ago (it was buried in debris and leaves for $50.00). Full of cracks and erroneous holes drilled into it which I welded up. The doors (which I estimate to be 60 pounds each) came from elsewhere with the hardware which I traded for a set of 11" backing plates. It's noisy on bumpy roads but it very nice to keep the wind off in the winter. I have no heat and I'm considering insulating it which will also help with the noise.

I want a half cab bad.... I think for $50 one would DEFINITELY be on my Jeep. They seem to command a premium these days though.

For $50.00, it was pretty rough but it followed me home and I have a few hours into it.

I have a line on a M38 arctic cab. It's NOS and the sliding doors and everything is all there including fillers and brackets. Of course, I do not have a jeep that it will fit (yet). I heard that with a slight modification, it will fit a 3B which is in my future, I hope. I do have plenty of cold storage. If I wind up not using it, my grandson will in a couple of decades.
