I'll be honest, I don't know what you'd be gaining there. It doesn't look like there's enough meat there to open it up to 2.25" and it's still a quite restrictive exhaust manifold design. But I'm not an engineer, maybe I'm missing something.

Kind of funny, if one sits at the computer long enough, you can solve just about anything;) Yes my dear Faulken, you're probably not missing anything;) IT's just another piece of the puzzle all in an effort to make the little sixer run ok;)

I'm a little saddened, I was hoping the 2 barrel setup was going to have the larger exhaust port, but noooooo

    https://www.ttiexhaust.com/3-Slant6.htm#Features

The TTI exhaust pipe, their entire exhaust is about 500bucks~

I have no idea on the optimal exhaust size for a slant 6 but a lot of people just think bigger is automatically better but it t'aint so- there's such a thing as opening up the exhaust too much.

Above a certain size you're not lowering the resistance to the flow any more as you are just slowing down & spreading out the exhaust velocity. In a well designed system that exhaust velocity creates areas of low pressure between the pulses that, in a well designed system, help scavenge the exhaust out of a just fired cylinder. I think it's worth a bit of reaserch on what would really work best for your application it it's final form.

When I got the exhaust done on Tonk the shop asked me if I wanted to go up to 2 1/4", I politely declined.

Sad, but that doesn't sound like a lot to me, these days. Priced an OEM dealer muffler lately?

Had a consult with the G&G performance, the owner has been there 30plus years! He told me we are going for 9:1 compression. I'll be bringing the parts to him August 15.

When we walked into his office, first thing he noticed from the one piston I showed him, the rod/wrist pin is off center! I didn't catch that.
    the wrist pin centered
    [IMG]
The rod obviously pushed to the side
    [IMG]

He also amazed at the recess of the piston in the cylinder, in inches right at 3/16" or .190 by my dial indicator. He said he's going to look at pistons. I'm fine with whatever he says.

This is the cam sheet I'll be using. Provided by an avid mopar guy. All tech to me!

.190 down in the hole is HUGE!!
    Wrong pistons, rods or something.
    That ruins your quench.

Well, I hope that Joe (G&G Performance) can make things right. You'd think that with, well, like you said, wrong piston/rods,etc, but compression seems about right for the stock engine that it is? 7.69:1. Anyway, it'll be in his experienced hands and he said, "9:1" Shave the head, block, and possibly different pistons? sigh

    Could be worse.

My first Harley, some PO had installed domed pistons. When I made some high rpm, they shut the gaps on the spark plugs!

Well, it resulted in a total engine rebuild which I could ill afford at the time.

But I got to meet a beer-drinking local named Bob LaBrie who was a legend as a Harley builder, had even built a three cylinder Harley.

We ran that bike for ten years without ever a drop of oil leaking. When I was selling it, I mentioned the builder's name, and the prospective buyer handed me cash without even asking to start it up.

    So, good adventures, no regrets.

I want to say DocMCg (the Forabodies forum) saved the day on the rear main oil seal retainer! ;) I'm so pleased!

In the meantime, the cam is sent off to Oregon cams, and thanks to Halfafish (from the Forabodies again) for the contact info and an immense amount of information;)

I had a little left over steel, so I made a stand for the block and drilled a couple holes to use an engine lift plate~
hm, headed out of town this weekend upload_2024-7-25_16-30-47.gif Just when I was getting back in the garage.

This weekend we we went to get this A body A833 (4 speed) (500bucks). Since it was painted, I was really worried what the innards might look like... I will be removing the black paint, don't know why the guy painted it. The seller had bookoos of Mopar stuff, but I didn't want to stay any longer than we did, the 3 hour drive there wasn't bad, but there and back takes a toll~ don't do well traveling these days.
I will need a spacer ,or adapter to fit my bell housing.

I was surprised to see the insides look ok.

There are some filings near the front, 3/4 gear.

    • How they make these gears is beyond me

    • Just making sure the pilot bearing fit

The Hurst shifter must be really old, I'll play with it, reverse doesn't work on it. I'd rather have a shiny Hurst, meh. Also the shifter arms are kind of hard to come by:(

    Another day;)
I sealed up the transmission, then took it around the corner of my garage, pressure washed with my wet sandblasting attachment, it's now looking much better;) Actually not sure what to do with it, take it apart, or take a chance as it looks and sounds good inside. I would like to at least replace the tail shaft bushing and obvious gaskets. I'll be using a GPS type speedo, so not worried about the speedo gear.
    I need a shower!

that shouldn't be a problem, theyre simple enough to fabricate from scratch. you've just gotta connect the dots.

Hi, finally got a little bit done today~ on the ForAbodies forum, I get a lot of help, just like on here;) Waiting to hear back from the machine shop on the Slant 6! hurry up and wait

I've been saved again, this time by Slant Six (Greg);) He had a timing cover, so I got on it today, got it cleaned and ready for paint~ haven't decided on paint yet.

Then, a little while back, Mopar Guy (Stan) guided me in the direction for the correct A833 bearing retainer so I can use my bell housing;) Brewers Performance had it;)

Then I put my rear axle together, just taking a chance on what it does, but it looks great!

oh, then I put my front fenders back on my main body, lots of body work~ I used my wet sandblaster to get them clean, worked well!;)
    now what! lol

Said this already~ I had blasted my front fenders with my wetblaster, got the job done, then put the fenders back on the main body, the left front fender is going to need a lot of attention:( but looks like a car!;)
