1965/66 Chevy C30

I bought this truck several years ago because it had an SM420 in it with a complete parking brake assembly. I got the truck running when I first got it, then pulled the transmission to use in the 55 Chevy. I always meant to swap the non-parking brake transmission back in, but I never did. I would occasionally start it, but then it started leaking oil really bad, so it just sat. I know it is a 65 or 66 because of the fender emblems. I have not checked the VIN yet.

Until a couple days ago. I decided to put the transmission back in. I threw that in and got it running. I found the source of the oil leak, which was coming from the oil filter housing. Someone double gasketed the filter housing (Cartridge style). I had new oil filter and put that in along with some fresh oil, so now it is a happy 283. It also had an ugly homebuilt plow frame welded onto the front frame horns. I torched that off and bolted on a beat up chrome bumper that I got with the K20 cab.

I have the correct 18" wheels for this truck from my 55 Chevy (they need new tubes) and I am going to pull the dump bed off and put the flat bed on from the 55 Chevy. Then I would like to mount a junk hit and miss engine on the bed. I think it would be really neat.

 

My buddy and I pulled the dump body off today and I put the flatbed on from my 55 Chevy. I now have an awesome idea as to what I am going to do with this truck.

 

Awww maaan, I got excited when I saw the dump bed. Now I'm sad.

 

The dump body was . Someone really tweaked that thing and beat it to death.

 

Jeep hauler?

 

Nope, I am going to mount some engines and flat belt driven machinery on the bed. It will make it easy to display at shows that way.
