Hello and thanks for taking time to read this.

I just bought a 1970 CJ5 with the Dauntless engine, my question is, there was a PTO forward, how can I identify, my transfer case type and the transmission, the VIN tells me:
    "Universal" "V6" and "open body"

Does the fact that it had a PTO tell me that I have the Warn overdrive?

I am familiar with other vehicle VIN decoders to generate a build sheet, is that possible with this Jeep?

    Thank you!

Assuming your Jeep is stock, you have a 225 V6, T14 3 speed, and a Dana 18 transfer case.
A PTO was a popular add-on, it goes into the opening into the back of the transfer case.
A Warn overdrive goes into that same opening, so you generally either have one or the other. There is a special adapter to allow the use of a PTO behind the Ward OD, but you don't see those very often.
A PTO shifter will be a small lever between the seats, a Warn OD shifter is taller and usually muonted near the trans shifter.

Edit- It'd be a good idea to post up pics of what you've got...MANY of these Jeeps have been modified over the years...

Not many factory options, but there is no option info in your VIN. basically model, engine and sequential serial number.

Thanks colojeepguy and Zoomer, the PTO lever is mounted on the dash left of the steering column, so betting it was an add on feature.

PTO on the dash? Possibly cable actuated? On the build card, I know of no manufacturer besides Chrysler-Dodge that offers the service of sending the original (copy) build card. I got one for my '41 Dodge, and it answered a number of questions I had. I assume Dodge does it because they are still in business, (under a different name), whereas Kaiser is long gone, along with the records.

A lever on the left side of the dash is often for a snow plow hydraulic lift for the blade. There is usually a belt driven pump on the engine.

Thank you for your reply Donny, I was told the Jeep was used to plow snow on a long driveway.
