Purchased a Luk clutch kit for my cj5.

I used option 1 of the Novak Guide to Clutches to determine the size of the TO bearing I need. Here are my measurements:

Bell Housing face to back of bearing retainer where TO bearing stops = 5.94 inches.

Machined face of engine block to tip of diaphragm fingers = 4.0 inches

Novak’s guide suggested having a 1/8 inch air gap and 1/8 inch disc wear/finger rise allowance

    so using their formula,

    5.94-4.0-.125-.125 = 1.69 inches for a TO bearing.

the one that came in my kit measures 1.56 inches.

    roughly a 1/8 inch difference.

is this close enough to work?

If I read that correctly the throw out bearing is a bit shorter than ideal. I'ld run it but I'm cheap and with all the linkage involved your looking at a significant adjustment at the pedal but i'ld guess 3/8 at the linkage you adjust. Likely too much for an old worn rod and tube linkage but it's worth bolting together and verifying exactly what you need.
