I’m still not convinced what transmission is in there but I am 99.9% sure the spacers were added. (Probably for a transmission swap).
Looking at the engine tonight I see the driver side value cover is touching the firewall - from the engine being tilted back. It’s going to be a few weeks before I can get to fixing this. I may get some better photos of the transmission now the cover is off. Im going to clean up some of the under parts as I can access it now.

Looking at it again, I'm going to say it's a T-90 adapted to the V6 with a 1971 only T-14 bellhousing. The '68 I just bought has a similar setup.

Take off the breather and place a level on top fore/aft. adjust rear of tranny until engine is level and measure gap for crossmember spacing. Jeep needs to be level as well. This will insure proper carb float level as designed. You will find the engine slants back aprox 4 deg.

Just went out and got a couple photos and measurements.

The Bellhousing is very close to 9” long.
The transmission is right at 8” long
    There’s no adapter.
    And…..

Now I need to jack it up and figure out why they have all the spacers. I’m betting something on the transmission is rubbing on the cover. Hopefully not a big modification to make it level.

A T-86 is a warmed-over T-90. No great difference in when in use. Just FYI. However, it does have a case with a different front pattern.

The T-86 in a CJ used an adapter to a generic Buick bell housing. This looks like the '71 bell housing where the housing and adapter are combined. The '71 came with a T-14, but it's the same front pattern and stick out as the T-86, so the '71 parts should bolt on to a T-86.
