Application: 56, Dana 25 front axle cj6 Replacing Bendix style shafts with Spicer, clean, new pivot pin cones and bearings etc. Question: Is there still a need for the bronze “thrust washer” ? As I understand it the end play and centering with a Spicer joint is controlled by the snap ring and the spindle bushing. Yet the FSM still shows the thrust washer living behind the u-joint. For full disclosure, when I yanked the shafts, there were no thrust washers present. Which could be why the short shaft was binding. Signed, Confused Thanks in advance for the advice!
