I got the trico wiper motor working. There is a little diaphram flapper thing covering up some port on the big flapper and it was bent so i got it to fit better and put new lithium grease in it. It took a little working back and forth blocking the intake and flipping the on off but i think once it cleared some of the oil and grease out it got to working and i let it run a while. Then I had to make sure the dash fit the new cowl section and i needed two more tabs for mounting so i stipped the dash down there is some rust spots and holes to fill but its not bad. And I couldnt believe it but the little wiper switch cable works fine its not rusted up. For some reason they had 4 blinkers wired in. I guess they couldnt figure out how to get them to run on just 1 lol

Im working on the drivers door the whole hinge panel needed to be new and the skin. So since I rebuilt the cab its all out of shape anyway im fitting the door to it. Its going better than i anticipated. All the mechanisms work fine. Iv almost got the hinge panel done then iv got to loosen up all the window frame bolts because taking that off is the only way to get glass in it. I'll probably just put lexan in it for now. Im going to add braces inside so it stays where i want it because its very floppy and im not so sure the skin will get it as solid as i would like. I also will likely add some pieces around the outside so i have somewhere to put seals on and close up some of the gaps. It seems to be poorly designed in that regard. There are bigger gaps than my cj5 has. I also got the header panel above the door all fixed up and solid again. I just need to do the passenger side front then i can put the roof back on and finish fixing it up across the top of the windshield to match the header panel.

Spent most of the day on the door and its fitting and working pretty good now. Not an easy task! Does anyone know what the hole on the passenger side tunnel is for its 2" or so round. Im thinking maybe for tightening the radiator hose clamp? Its going to need a block off plate of some sort.

Thats for sure! When I got it I said Im just going to do the the minimum to get it working. Well the minimum quickly became everything!
I did another full day of work on the door today. Got the window frame fitting better and made the skin! I used the sheet metal from my old porsche 914 trunk lid. It has a nice arch to give it some strength rather than using a flat sheet. Its actually a little too much arch but I think it will flatten out enough once i get it all crimped on. Probably put it aside for now and take a break from the door for a while

Progress has been slow iv been working on alot of customers mowers and stuff lately. But I got the cab put back on today. The corners and floor on the passenger side are done i just have to do the dash and front of the roof skin now. And fit the passenger door. Its probably going to need the skin pulled off and redone just as much as the driver door to get it all fitted right. But now the cab is on and i can work on getting all that connected

Theres no rush I need something to do all winter. Another distraction iv been working on is building an extension on the back of my shed to park this thing when its done. Iv got 3 long heavy duty pallets for the floor that im filling in and leveling out. then iv got to dig some post holes for the posts and throw up the roof. The current roof is only like 6' tall and 6' out. So ill back the truck in there and build the new section taller so the cab fits. The whole mess is made of old scraps that i pick from dumpsters and garbage. Ill get some pics

I posted more in the home repair thread but incase you havnt seen it heres a pic of the shed. Today I picked up a trailer load of old deck boards so that will help out a bit. Im plugging away with the welding of the right side dash and today I glued the roof on. I used Fuze It calk. I figured that was the best way to get a good seal and stick it down rather than spot welding in the channel and then sealing it. I might still throw some tack welds on it where i can. I still have to put a lip on the front and blend in the front corners. The driver side sticks out quite a bit i might pie cut it a bit to bring it down and blend better. I think im going to paint the interior gray and do gray carpet headliner and floorboards. Not sure if the dash will be red or gray yet and iv been looking for a suitable cheap dual master and found some good options. I pulled apart the original and its not saveable.

Got the dash almost done. Driver door skin crimped on and door fitted now i can paint the jam. Front corners of the roof still have to fill the middle. Im working on the front bumper now. I mounted it farther back so its like 3/4" from the body. There were no inner mounts because of the plow frame. I found a pic of what they are supposed to look like and got one side done.
Also bought some carpet for the headliner and floors. I needed a 6x12 piece. Looked at a few places and they all had the same carpet. They had pre made ones but i would have had to buy two and i didnt like it because it had lines and was quite thin and cheapo. Home depot had what i wanted gray and a better quality but it would have been like 65 bucks. Looked around and my brother found a remnant in back perfect size. But it was still full price. An employee came around and saw me himming and hawing and said he can mark it down 25%. Sold

I don’t know if you are aware, but the early and late FC doors are not the same. The arc shaped area forward/below of the windshield post, and the corresponding area at the bottom toe step have different angles, and don’t readily interchange. If you try an early door on a late cab, or vice versa, the gaps are way off, as much as 3/4” in a couple areas. This might be why some of your gaps are terrible.
Also, look at 3M Panel Bond #8115 for “gluing “ your roof and door skins back on. Thats what to stuff is made for. Its expensive and requires a special dispenser gun, but it really does the job well. I had to splice a whole roof section, from below the glass, up, on my FC150 cab. I cut the spot weld seam at that joint, and used the Panel Bond to re-attach it. I welded the windshield post at the base.
Keep up the good work! -Donny

Yes I heard there were different doors. Im sure mine fit at some point in the very distant past until the cab structure evaporated. Too late on the panel bond shes stuck down good now. Im sure its not going anywhere. I glued some other stuff with it and it seems quite good.
If anybody has a spare bumper guard for a willys wagon/pickup or even an fc I only have one.

I made a gated bracket for the shifter. I guess the later ones had this but mine didnt. I dont know they worked it at all without it. Looks like the shifter would easily come out of the forks. Maybe its not so bad when the transmission controls the throw. But no chance of a missed gear now. I just had to cut the floor a bit to fit it. Also got the front bumper all installed. I bought a dual master for a 81 82 Mazda 626 MX-6 . It has the mounting vertical and the lines out the bottom. It would be nice to have the resivoir bolt to it but I guess a remote one might work out better anyway. I will get the pedal assembly all fixed up first and see where the dash sits in relation to it

It was pretty easy to make. I got it all installed with the rods. It seems to be working. I had to adjust the rear R/1 rod in quite a bit to get it where 3/4 would go in smoothly. I dont know if its in the right place. I cant remember if the r/1 shifter has a neutral it seems like it doesnt. I'll mess with it some more to make sure its working right before driving it. Iv been studying your thread on the dual master. Ill mount mine pretty much the same as that. Im more worried about disassembling the cluster and forgetting how it came apart there is kinda alot of pieces.

I put luon paneling around the edges for the headliner carpet to glue to. Also made the radiator hoses. The metal tubing is an old stainless vacuum wand that i bead rolled the ends. I cleaned up and installed the E brake handle now have to figure out the cable. Im going to make something with garage door cable and pulleys and maybe run it through brake tubing if needed.
