    I know the price is a little high, but willing to work with someone from here. The below text is from my fakebook ad. Thanks, Mark DSCN0818.JPG DSCN0819.JPG 74 cj6 1.jpg 74 cj6 2.jpg cj6 74 top.jpg cj6 74 rear.jpg cj6 74-6.jpg

I have a very nice 1974 CJ-6 for sale with a great running 4.2 (258) straight six cylinder. Motor runs perfect and is strong. PO siad it had a rebuild about 4K ago. I believe it. Jeep came out of Colorado and is pretty much rust free and very solid, including hats channels, floors and tool box floor. Very hard to find these in New England or anywhere else for that matter. Original T14, Dana 20, flanged 44 rear and Dana 30 up front with drums on all four corners. Brakes were done by PO and have all new parts, but need to be blead better. What I have time to do and new parts include new Bestop just installed last year new. 5 ew BFG Mud Terrains 31/1050-15 on Renegade alloy rims. Rims are good from 10 foot away, but could use a good cleaning. Also added last year was a very nice and straight swing tire carrier close to correct era. Jeep was originally cooper metalic, not orange. Full roll bar, nicely done. New full tank. Power steering, but manual brakes. Very comfy seats even for bigger people. Installed new rear emergency brake cables. Awesome running 74 intermediate CJ6. Cons. Needs new body mounts which I have and may get installed before you look. They just dried out and a few have fallen out, so it bangs on the frame. Sections of the Rear floor was cut out by PO to install new tank, ??? Thats the only reason I can see as the floor had no rust at all. They also installed flush mounted rear tail lights and cut out two of the rear cross member/body mounts. Seats are not original, I believe they are Smitty Built or rugged ridge, but very good shape. Original seat brackets. Needs a new u joint on intermediate steering shaft. Wipers work good but need the knob and heater motor works but wiring is off. Muffler has a hole from rubbing against the muffler bracket, but exhaust is very solid. So come take a look at a hard to find Jeep CJ 6 in great shape. Located in Ware, Mass. 01082 Asking $13,000 and only selling to fund another project and I have two other CJ-6's.

Very nice overall I rather like this.
With such a famous dependable engine too.
Yeah the color seems a bit off but makes a nice safety color that doesn’t show road film.
    So how’s it drive ?
I suppose the steering a tad loose due to the bad “U” joint ?
And brakes are kinda spongy ?
    Thinking out loud here…….
I’d have to check my books but wasn’t a T15 the norm in 1974 ?

Only with a V8. Sixes got a T-14 or the close-ratio T-18 (maybe not in a CJ-6). They changed to the T-150 for all engines in 1976.

It drives great and it is the best running and strongest 4.2 I have ever owned or for that matter driven. And yes the steering is side to side. I have another intermediate shaft to go along with it. I may just go ahead and order a new one. But the drive is great. Love the longer CJ's obviously. Brakes just need to be bled again, eveything there is new, but have the feeling PO did not bleed them very well. I have two other CJ-6's and I just bought a 46 VEC and 81 Scrambler and they are both coming here this month..............................................and I just bought a 2005 LJR or as they are officially known as Jeep Unlimited Rubicon and I just don't have the room here at my parent's old house. I really miss my barn.

And definitely a T-14 without any problems. If anyone needs a video of it running and a walk around, hit me up and I will get it to you.

I imagine 3.73 ratio would be best unless a guy did lots of off road with it. Then the optional 4.27 would be better.
I agree with the nearly indestructible 258 comment.
I think I would opt for a 258 over the 304 most anyday.

I don’t know about CJ-6’s but other CJ’s as an option could get the T-18 behind the I-6’s ‘76-‘79.

373 ratio and T14 tranny. Runs great down the road. Hoping to get new body mounts on this week if they ever show up. Only draw back to the jeep is the steering is loose. Needs end of column bushing and u joint at the box. May order a new intermediate shaft this week. Sorry I've been busy and away for a while. Traveled out to Michigan for a 05 LJR, Ohio for a VEC and the Willy's reunion. But she is still for sale. Drove it this past week. Just a great solid 6.

Body mounts in. Leaf springs showed up today. Yep found an issue with 2 springs while doing body mounts, so new springs, shocks and u bolts going in. Still have not gotten to steering. Working on the VEC and LJ keep me from getting a lot done.
