    I appreciate receiving your thoughts and suggestions. Here's another picture. The forked end has rounded tines like not meant for chiseling or piercing. The forked end doesn't appear to have strike marks, if it where used to hold rivets or pins for setting. Heavy duty for sure. 123_1_copy_960x1280.jpeg

    Mebbe for pressing a pipe or cable down into a slit in the earth? But why the V-notch, and why the rounded pins?

    Certainly is heavily built for whatever reason, and that can't be an accident.

    Maybe but this crazy thing takes a wooden handle, odd. Pictures stolen from internet of RR spike pullers are all steel construction with a claw end.

    Maybe it's a wedge of some sort? The forks would give it more surface area for separating something.
