Alternator Issue

    I just put a rebuilt Delco ($32 from Rockauto) 10SI in my Jeep.

    I also bought the two wire "pig tail" from them ($3).

    Jumped the red wire from the pigtail to the main terminal which has a wire going to the positive battery cable, cut the white wire for the idiot light off of the connector, and is seems to be working fine.

    At Idle I am seeing 14 volts on my voltage meter in the dash.

    This is simple, and it is charging at idle. The "one wire" alternator I replaced would only show a charge when running down the road at higher RPM.

    Dependent on the type of internal regulator used.

    I have no idea about that. The one wire alternator was with an engine I bought. Has a sticker on it that I can't read but I suspect it was a rebuilt unit.

    Most of the driving I do in a Jeep is at low RPM, so I am happier with what I have now.
