I am about to mount the roll bar on the jeep and I would like some advice. Should I mount it straight to the metal or is there anything working as seal/padding to prevent water getting in between and rotting the tub? Thanks!

I've never seen any sealant in there. The body steel should be painted, and that should stop rot. The side bolts are vertical and no water will pool there. You'll only get water on top of the wheel houses if you let the Jeep sit outside in the rain without a top.

If you want to add sealant, I suppose you could. Or you could drill the holes, remove the roll bar and paint any raw steel edges.

Sealant is a double edged sword. Unless everything is sealed 100% you will trap moisture in there and hasten the rot.
