    Yup. And it works the same with an integral box or a separate control valve/assist cylinder. I have never used a steering damper with PS in an early CJ. That said, the JK has one and it needs it----------

    I don't remember, bought it off ebay years ago. It's a big chunk of cast iron, I think that's the 72-5 version?

    72-75 were cast iron. 76-86 were pieces of steel.
