Cj-5 Bikini Top On A 3a Windshield Frame? Help

Looking to talk to anyone who has put a Rugged Ridge or Best Top 55-75 CJ-5 Bikini Top on a CJ-3A windshield using the top channel. (My windshield had for years a Kayline top so it has the same type of channel a CJ5 would have)

Looking to find out if the slightly wider width can just be folded under or if its more involved ?. Or any other problems to deal with.

 

I'm pretty sure the 2a guys fiddle with the corner buttons and straps but the rollbar is a pretty big factor.

 

I made my windshield frame from an old arctic top frame and a channel from an old 3b windshield, so I’m not sure how it compares to yours, but here’s the cj5 top on it. The snaps do come undone at 80+, but the rest of the top is fine.





One thing to note, the aerodynamics of a flatty are way different than what I was used to with a 5, and the bikini top flapped horribly until I sewed Velcro loops into the underside of the top to hold it in place.

 

That's some nice stitch work there. My bikini top flaps a lot in the wind as well, on my cj5. Looking at ways to improve the situation. But I don't have all the cross bars on my cage. I have an idea but haven't tried it yet.

I am blaming this situation (getting beat on top of my melon occasionally for years by a bikini top) for the fact I am now folically challenged.

You can have beech wood canvas make one to fit. They were more than I wanted to spend.
I purchased the Bestop CJ top . Put it on then trimmed it to fit properly. Took it to your local seamstress and had them sew an edge on. The shot below does not have the buttons installed on the corners yet. Fits perfect
